Pentagon Spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said the strike hit a training camp where a “large-scale” attack was being planned by the militants. “We know they were going to be departing the camp and they posed an imminent threat to US and African Union forces,” Captain Davis said. “Initial assessments are that more than 150 terrorist fighters were eliminated,” he added. Russell while handing down the sentence said Durham had committed “heinous crimes on the most vulnerable victims” and ordered him to pay $15,863 (about Sh1.6 million) as restitution. “These were heinous crimes committed on the most vulnerable victims. He was their worst nightmare come true,” Russell said. Durman becomes the latest charity worker in Kenya to be convicted of sex crimes.
