Depositors’ relief as Chase Bank reopens

Chase Bank depositors have been given a huge relief today following the announcement that the bank is set to re-open next week, barely three weeks after it was

put under receivership. The Central Bank of Kenya which put the retail bank under receivership early this month today announced that it will reopen the bank on April 27, 2016.

MPs want team formed to look into chaos at universities Five legislators have called on Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to form a taskforce to probe the recent unrests that have been witnessed at universities. Addressing the press at Parliament Buildings this morning, David Ochieng, Kabando Wa Kabando, Asmam Kamama, Richard Onyonka and Isaac Mwaura (nominated) said the taskforce should be in place within 30 days. “We’re calling on the Education CS and the President to move with speed and constitute a taskforce within 30 days and come up with radical recommendations on how to curb students unrest,” Ochieng said He argued that for the country to stop runway corruption and tribalism, action must start from the universities. “We want to see universities launching research papers and other technology related inventions not unrest all the time,” Ochieng said.
