ormer Prime Minister Raila Odinga should go ahead and contest for the presidency in next year’s general elections according to the opinions of a majority of Kenyans. A new poll released by Ipsos Synovate today shows that 60 percent of Kenyans want Mr Odinga to continue in active politics and even be on the ballot in 2017, if he so wishes. The poll also showed that Mr Odinga remains the best bet for the opposition to run against President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017. However, a section of his supporters felt he should pass the baton to any of his co-principals in Cord, Kalonzo Musyoka or Moses Wetangula. “34 percent of the respondents wanted Raila Odinga to actively remain in his ODM party and even contest for the presidency if he so wills while 26 percent felt that he should not contest the presidency but should remain in his political party,” the report revealed.
