Poll gives Jubilee slight edge over Nasa in Nairobi

P

resident Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee is most popular party in Nairobi according to the findings of a new opinion poll released today. A survey done by InfoTrack indicate Jubilee is ahead of opposition coalition, the National Super Alliance (Nasa) by three points at 43.2 percent popularity. However, the poll predicts a tight run with some 12 percent of the respondents yet to decide which party or coalition they will support in the forthcoming general election. Another two percent of those polled refused to disclose their preferred political outfits while seven percent of the respondents said they don’t InfoTrack chief know who they will back. Former CS Kamau’s graft case halted pending appeal The trial of former Transport Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau for corruption has been stopped pending the outcome of an appeal he has filed contesting the criminal proceedings. Anti-Corruption Court Magistrate Felix Kombo ruled the proceedings will be temporarily halted until June 30 when the matter will be mentioned and further directions given.

On Wednesday, appellate judges Milton Makhandia, William Ouko and Kathurima M’Minoti stayed Kamau’s proceedings which were expected to begin today. The former CS is facing charges of flouting procurement procedures relating to the management of public funds in a tender on the design of the Kamukuywa-Kaptama-Kapsokwony-

Sirisia Road. The work was done by Engiconsult Consulting Engineers Limited at the cost of Sh33 million. Kamau is the second CS under the Jubilee Administration to seek recourse in cases they believe were politically motivated.
