We are the genera�on that witnessed the crea�on of the union, and we’re proud to have seen the dynamic development and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates since its incep�on un�l now. “We have exci�ng ini�a�ves and plans coming up for the local art community as we are always searching for something unique so the public can expect surprises. E�had Modern Art Gallery hopes that the arts will con�nue to play a major role in developing the community, suppor�ng cultural heritage and pass to future genera�ons of the United Arab Emirates. This is very important, first for my country, then for my kids and people in general. It’s very important to know who we are and there’s so many things, hidden informa�on, for us to see.

ABOUT US E�had Modern Art Gallery (EMAG) is a mul�-purpose art space and café in the heart of the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. The gallery is open to the public every day (excluding Fridays) from 10am to 10pm, with an open door and free admission policy. In 2016, EMAG’s con�nued success brought in a respected European curator. Now, EMAG has a new exhibi�on with a VIP opening every month and importantly, we have extended our connec�ons with respected galleries and ins�tu�ons in Europe. In December 2016, EMAG was the first ever privatelyfunded gallery from the UAE to host a large scale
exhibi�on in Berlin, the art capital of Europe. The ‘Art Nomads: Made in Abu Dhabi’ exhibi�on announced the arrival of Emira� ar�sts in the interna�onal art world with numerous excellent reviews in German and interna�onal media, including Harper’s Bazaar magazine. During 2017, EMAG will con�nue the promo�on of excellent Emira� and UAE-based interna�onal ar�sts with a presence in celebratedArt Fairs around the world. The planned 2017 season of exhibi�ons will see an even more diverse and pres�gious display of new and exci�ng ar�sts from around the globe and con�nued interna�onal publicity for UAE culture.

The owner, H.E. Khaled Siddiq Al Mutawaa, envisioned a friendly and versa�le art space, that is open to everyone, which encouraged the promo�on, discussion and growing apprecia�on of the burgeoning Emira� art scene. Opening in 2013, EMAG organised significant art shows and local heritage exhibi�ons, crea�ng bonds with the interna�onal art scene and academic ins�tu�ons. We achieved this by invi�ng interna�onal ar�sts to live, teach and create in the UAE, mo�va�ng local ar�sts to showcase their work and hos�ng a wide range of parallel cultural ac�vi�es like art workshops, poetry nights and music events.

EMAG’S GOAL The goal of EMAG is a con�nuous progression of the art scene in Abu Dhabi, as well as promo�ng Emira� tradi�ons, culture and art to a wider global audience. We aim to open a dialogue with the public and introduce new cultural concepts, whilst promo�ng the environmentally-consciousv i s i o n of o u r founder, H.E. Khaled Siddiq Al Mutawaa.
