Annabelle Smith Bigno

In some of the works, spontaneous brushstroke and colorful pale�e evoke a lighthearted backdrop of colour and feminine complicity. In other works, the subjects are solitary in their rugged na�ve landscape. Throughout the series, a dynamic brush and array of threads divert colours and pigments so that the subjects are absorbed and entwined into a backdrop of chaos. Collage and threads are placed in such a way as to capture and re-diffuse acrylics and inks into the desired composi�ons. Water and pigments merge and fuse to conjure up local light which perfuses all.

Born and raised in Scotland of French and Sco�sh parents, Annabelle Smith Bigno lived, painted and exhibited work in Oman, Libya, Venezuela, France, the US and the UAE from 2001 to 2017. Currently living in the UAE, she has taken advantage of the influence of these years of travel, study, and mul�cultural inspira�ons to paint, meet and work alongside local ar�sts with whom she par�cipates in numerous exhibi�ons.

Karine Roche Karine Roche holds a diploma in spa�al design from ENSAAMA Olivier De Serres, Paris. She has been based in the UAE since 2009. Her work has been presented in space including Sharjah Art Museum, Museum of Decora�ve and Folk art (Moscow), Proart gallery (2020) and Art Sawa(2011-2018) as well as fairs such as Art Paris. It can be found in private and corporate collec�ons including Municipality of Vitry-Sur-Seine(France), Founda�on Colas (France), West Lake Museum (Hangzhou, China) and Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Founda�on (UAE). The series presented by Karine Roche is inspired by Abu Dhabi, Paris, Oman each pain�ng is an imaginary travel. On a structural level the composi�ons are similar: they combine the geometric lines of architecture with the organic lines of nature. This parallel between these different regions helps evoke and intensify underlying environmental viewpoints. The concept of 'City vs. Nature' highlights the broader ques�on of the vision of the future and the search for a be�er fit between our lifestyles and the environment. The la�er would certainly help resolve ecological and social crises. Here pain�ng creates a cosmology in which nature returns to the city center. Composi�on seeks an alterna�ve rhythm through the network of organic and geometric lines of landscape that intermingle. Perspec�ve is intui�ve and acts like an illusionist’s tool to create depth. Thanks to this tool, rhythm is no longer only horizontal or ver�cal but actually gains a third dimension which absorbs our gaze and immerses it in a vision where the urban and vegetal are complementary.

Tala Hammoud Atrouni Tala Hammoud Atrouni is a Pales�nian ar�st from Lebanon who was born in Beirut in 1977. As a child, her love for art was expressed shyly. She o�en found herself busy with colorful crayons and paper. In Beirut, she was exposed to the city’s cosmopolitan society and vibrant culture. This exposure enriched her perspec�ve on life. She grew up admiring her father’s art of calligraphy, poetry, and drawings. Despite the lack of formal art exposure in her high school, her passion for fine art drove her to pursue her educa�on in the field. A�er high school, in the fall of 1995, she enrolled in the school of fine arts at the Lebanese American University in Beirut. In addi�on to fine art classes, her dad advised her to enroll in more prac�cal courses in adver�sing so that she would earn a minor degree in the field and improve her chances of finding a job. She earned her Bachelor degree in July of 1998 with an award of excellence in the art of pain�ng and sculpture. A year later, she moved to San Francisco, California with her husband. This move has given her a new perspec�ve regarding her future career. A�er working in the high tech industry for three years as a publishing team leader, she decided to con�nue her graduate studies and pursue a future in art. She a�ended the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco. In August 2005, she graduated with an MFA degree in illustra�on. A�er living in San Francisco for 11 years, and Muscat for 4 years, She is currently living in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
