ROUNDPREVIEWS
South Gambier V Casterton Sandford
One of the keys to this match will be how the four South Gambier players who represented Western Border at the weekend's SA Country Championships have pulled up aer the gruelling weekend.
Casterton Sandford also has two players inthatboat.
Southarguablyhasamoreseledline-up with Gracie Dalton and Alyssa Duncan starng to form a strong combinaon in goals, while the Cats have sll been experimennginthatspace, althoughIvy Lane and Chelsey Galpin look set to perhapsgetalongruninthoseroles.
Defensively, South relies on the athlec duo of Sophie Wight and Ellie Bouchier and they will be looking to create plenty of turnover ball and deny the young Cats shoongcombinaonmeandspace.
Of course the Cats defenders, Ebany Jarrad and Caeleigh Humphries, will be looking to do the same to Duncan and Dalton, with Madalene Cleary also an oponinthatdefensivecircleifrequired.
Cleary willnodoubtstartinthemidcourt to control the game for the Cats and her bale with Megan Reid will be a pivotal, and in the end it will be the team that looks aer the ball and limits its errors in transionthatwilltakethepoints.
Southwonthefirstencounterandshould be able to replicate that victory on the Demonshomecourt.
Millicentvnorthgambier
North Gambier announced its new look 2023 line-up when last the Tigers took on Millicentandgrabbedanarrowvictory
It sees this rematch as the clear match of the round and every match up looms large.
Mikaila Pi will no doubt get first crack and liming the influence of Saints shooter Tabatha Sanderson, relying somewhat on the pressure on delivery out in front of her, and North has the luxury of Stella Mobbs in the wings if requiredwithhersuperiorheight.
Arguablyevenmoreimportantwillbethe bale between Tigers defender Noni McConnell and Saints goal aack Demi Verbena.
VerbenaistheSaintsplaymakeranddoes plenty of scoreboard damage but she will earn every possession against the ght checking McConnell and the final result willrestheavilyonthismatchup.
The mid courts for both sides have a blend of experience and youth and both will be looking to move the ball quickly to take advantage of their respecve tall shooters.
Mel Renko leads the Tigers mid court wit the class of Brianna Walters and her speed onto the circle, with Lauran Norman bringing the athlecism and abilitytocreateturnoverball.
Lisa Duldig is the leader of the Saints mid court, workingintandematthedefensive end with Kimmi Tincknell, who could also earn a snt in the defensive circle, with Lillie Paul and Daisy Tunkin bringing the speedandqualitydelivery
North recruit Grace Pos has had a stunning start to her me as a Tiger and her combinaon with young gun Macey Griffith is already looking solid but the Tigesshooterswillhavetoworkoverme to get any easy ball in space with Pora McRae, Lauren Van Eeden and Tincknell strong ght checking defenders who contesteverything.
Millicent will have analysed the round three loss and will reverse the result in anotherghtbale.
West Gambier V Eastgambier
West Gambier has three players coming off SA Country Championships duty, with East also having one representave, but the Roos will start well and truly favourite,
That being said, East is starng to build butselingthenewlookline-uphasbeen hamperedbyplayedunavailability.
The reigning premiers have looked polishedandin-syncin2023butnodoubt are looking to develop and build and bring increased pressure to their opposion.
The defensive end of West so oen sets up their dominant wins with Amy Cram and Jade Rier making it hard for opposion goalers to find space in range and Zoe Malseed and Tara Bryant placing relentless pressure on the feeders to hopefullydrawerrorsindelivery
At the other end, the Roos are clinical in their ball movement wit Lisa McGregor controllingtheaackingendofthecourt, working in tandem with Bryant and Mikaela Horrigan to find their star shooter Sarah Rier, who has named in theSACountryChampionshipsTop10.
East has a smaller moving goal circle with Renee Henke and Casey Horrigan, and working the angles with Tarsh McCallum and Chloe Perryman, will be the key to their success and McCallum's pace and smarts and Perryman's strength in the air will be crical in finding good circle posiontodelivertothegoalers.
At the other end of the court, Bo Creek and Morgan Amy are an experience defensive duo and they will need the mid court to slow the Roos ball movement to give them a chance to limit the scoring opportuniesforMcGregorandRier

The poor 13Bs timeslot got the worst of the horrible, wet weather. Very tough conditions and our biggest challenge was just staying out on the court. So proud of all the girls for giving their all! Congratulations to Ava who played an awesome game for her 50th game milestone The girls displayed terrific resilience in horrendous challenging weather I was super proud of their efforts. They all played a great first half keeping the score line to within three goals at half time. This has given the girls confidence and has demonstrated how much they have improved as a team since their first round clash.

We knew Millicent were going to be tough, especially considering we had managed the win in a close battle last time we met. We started the game with the goal of being composed and focused on the basics. Given the horrendous weather conditions, we knew we had to play a controlled game in order to be successful. Each quarter was comprisedofsomesmoothpassagesofplay and some uncharacteristic errors. Despite some outstanding defensive performances, we struggled to transition the ball down the court and capitalise on the opportunities. We lacked consistency and unfortunately we were able to match the efforts of the Millicent team. Despite the outcome, we still celebrated 50 junior games for Coco Mackereth and Luca Roulstone. Excellent achievement girls. Best players for round eight are Ava Collins and Luca Roulstone. Both girls were outstanding in defence, creatingnumerousturnovers.

With the game starting off slowly we were even going into the quarter break, unfortunately this is where Millicent got the jump on us. We had to play catch up netball from there With some great defensive pressure and timely rebounds from Justine, Bri, Zarly and Amelia. We did bridge the gap inthethirdbutwereunabletomaintainthat going into the last. Let’s keep working and building on those connections through attackanda4qtrgamewilleventuate.

Although we didn't get a win this round it was a much improved style of play than what we have been doing over the past few weeks. Alisha was a tower of strength in the attack line, controlling and setting the play andshootingwithahighdegreeofaccuracy iIt was also good to see Amanda through mid court take on feedback and implement change during the game this week ensuring a smoother transition through court. Down theotherendofthecourtitwasgreattosee Nat finally back, and it was pleasing watching the whole defensive line of her Jessie and Reilly start to implement some of the plays we have been working on at training getting some great interceptions and I can't wait to see how this grows week byweek.

We wanted to start strongly and put defensive pressure to create turnovers. The first quarter was a tight tousle. And it was relatively even. Our best quarter was our second, and we were able to get it back to 4 down at half time We made some uncharacteristic errors in wet conditions and found it hard to penetrate the zone defence that Millicent put on Our last quarter was disappointing, and we will reflect on this at training, and lift our standard going into the last full round of the season.

Inverywetweatherwestartedout strong and played really well in all areas. Our shooters were working the circle well. Mid court was driving hard and hitting the circle delivering the ball well. Defence alsoputplentyofpressureontheir opponents which caused turnovers. Our last quarter with some changes made, wasn’t our best and we didn’t adjust to the positional changes, allowing West tocomebackintothegame.
We did however hold onto our lead and came away with the points. I was pleasedto seeallour aspectsoftrainingcomingintoour games and the continual improvement is great. well done girls. keepupthegoodwork.
