In our cold and very wet conditions saw us host the doggies at home. Overall we had a verysuccessfuldayonthebestcourtsgoing around. Hopefully we don’t have to play in conditions like that for the rest of the season. Good luck to all the teams against SouthGambier,goRoos!
The C Grade had another good win on the back of a strongperformancefromElla Egan, who still smiled all g a m e d e s p i t e t h e horrendous weather and the damage to her usually perfectponytail!!!
The B Grade had a rare loss but will have learnt plenty and Leyna and Ange will have gone back to the drawing board to look at ways to combat the Cats tight defendersandtallshooter.
The A Reserve and A Grade flew the flag well at the weekend – both collecting wins.
ItwasatightcontestfortheA Reserve but thanks to some strong work from Caitlyn in the mid court and good finishing from Georgia they securedthefivegoalwin.
Jaymee and Maddie were also critical in attack with their strong leads and accurate delivery into Georgia, while defensively Charlene and Mykaela applied just enough pressure to create turnover ball and ensurethescoreboardended upinourfavour.
Ruby and Ellie led the way for theAGradeandRubythrived o n h er retu rn to th e defensive circlein the second half It was thanks to a strong start that the girls secured thewin.
This weekend we are fundraising for the Breast Cancer Network Australia so pop some money in a donation tin and/or buy one of our pink themed sweet snack packs to help raise moneyforthecause.

U11s - The 11’s tried hard all game in wet and freezing conditions We had some amazing passages of play but just couldn’t convert into the goal circle for the reward. I was pleased with our defensive game for thelast3quarters.Weneedtoworkonour passes still. Our improvement so far has been amazing and I am really proud of how the girls have progressed. Good luck today girlsandIknowwecandoit.
U13B’s-TheWest13Bteamhadacoupleof last minute withdrawals due to illness and were down to the bare 7. Thank fully Ella McKenny and Isla Lynch from 13A's sat bench for game Isobel Richards and Hannah Jackson shoot accurately however the midcourt were not able to supply many balls to convert. Aggie Thomas, Ruby Lamb and Chaneil Cowland worked hard in defence. At half time Hannah moved to defence and Ella came on at GA. This did stem the flow of goals scored against the westies. Unfortunately, during this quarter Mackenzie Fisher at WA injured her knee and was forced off the court at 3/4 quarter time. Isla took the court at GD and Hannah movedbacktoGAandEllawenttoWA.The girls went on to win the final quarter by 3 goals but were unable to close the gap losing by 8 goals. Best on Court Savannah RiddochandHannahJackson
C Grade - A tough loss on the weekend for the girlsgoing downto East by2.A big fight the whole game with the score not reflecting on the team effort Great defensive pressure by the whole team working for the turnovers, and then some brilliant attacking efforts from our goalies who worked hard all day along with solid efforts from our mid court moving the ball down the court We look forward to building on this to take on another challenging game this weekend. Game day awards: Emily Phillips and Lisa Boyd. Best Players:AlanaKochandEmilyPhillips.
B Grade - It was a wet and windy winters day we always knew it was going to be a challenge as we haven’t yet faced this weather Thegirlsplayedaveryhardfought gameagainsteastbuttheystartedoutvery strong as they were determined to get a win. Caitlin and Kristy worked extremely hard in goals all game. Brooke and Daena put pressure on the goalies all game and got some great interceptions. All the mid court players contributed well throughout the game and made it hard for east to get the ball downtheir end. In what was a tight finishbutitwasgreattocomeawaywitha1 goal win over east 39-38, best players and game day vouchers went to Kristy and Caitlin.
A-Reserve - This ended up being a strong win for us in trying conditions It was pleasing to see we could run out the game andbackeachotherupallday!Chelseaand Maddi were outstanding in defence, chasing so many balls down and creating turnovers.
Lucy was a strong option in the circle and played an impressive game. A great effort byeveryone.Let'skeepitupandworkhard attrainingthisweek.
U15A’s-Ourdefensiveeffortsandpressure was spot on today for 4 quarters. It is so pleasing to see what we are teaching in trainings is being put out on court. Swaye was in absolutely everything today, having her best game for the season. Maggy was solid at WD, creating many turnovers and attacking hard. It was a great team game with every player doing their thing. Enjoy yourholidayMagz!!
U17’s - A very even game today from start to finish. The weather gods seem to be upset, it rained for the entire game, the best part was the courts were amazing to play on even though they were drenched. Sonicetohavequalitycourtsthisyear Lucy at GA and Imogen at GS played a fantastic game together, their vision for each other and work around the circle with Alex and Charlotte was great. All the attack girls are working so well together Aleisha came on at half time at WA and gave us fresh legs,
AGrade- Wow- I hope that is the worst we haveitthisyear, notagreatdayfornetball!! It was nice to have our normal 7 on court today and I thought we played a solid 3 quartersofnetball.Stillwantingtoworkon our consistency over 4 quarters but I’m sure that will come. Sarah owned the goal circle and Mik and Tarz took some strong balls and fed with precision. Zoe, Amy and Jade were able to create plenty of turnovers. Keep working hard at trainingwenowenterthe2ndhalfoftheseason.
U13A’s - The 13a’s had a great game sadly not coming out of it with a win but played their hardest. Even though the weather was cold and wet they still made the most out of it. From losing but 8 or so in the first quarterandendingthegameonlylosingby 3 is a good come back. Thank you to our sponsors for our best players. Miah with the first best and Claudia with the second best Country Championships - Congrats to our West Contingent - Sarah Ritter, Jade Ritter, Tara Bryant, Mikaela Horrigan, Cara & Lila Pearson, Ella McKenny, Claire Hunter, Sara Richards and Analeigh Anderson & Eva Povey as emergencies - Super proud of you all for trying out and making the teams. Asuperbraveeffortbyallthegirlstodayin very cold wet conditions! They kept to a short passing game to maintain possession. The girls played a very strong defensive game, and with some great passing through the mid court and into the attacking circle they secured another good win! Best players were Kirra Madden (Baker’s Delight & Fasta Pasta) and Emily Millard (Denton’s Sports Power &McDonald’s).
U13As-28to17
In horrible conditions, the girls started off slowlywith it being equal at quarter time. Changes were made with Indi feeling unwell and Sophie was put on at WD The defensive end worked hard all game to gain back balls that weren’t executed in attack.Lotsofsillypassesanderrorswere made with the wet and slippery conditions. Our second half was much better with the ball transition being steadier down the court. Lots of things to work on to reduce the silly errors. Awards this week went to Lola (Dentons), Olive (Zambreros)andAudrey(JMIncentive).
U13Bs-21to4
Greatworktodaygirls.Throughthetough wet conditions, you were all able to push through and play your hardest The transition coming out of defence worked well with everyone clearing out and creating space and then coming back to the ball. Down in the attack the goalies were able to work with each other creating space in the goal circle to allow each other to come out for the ball and get a good shot. Awards went to Audrey (Java Café), Sophie (Chook House) and Lacey(JMIncentive).
U15As-34to26
Well today was not the conditions that anyone likes to play netball in. We started the game going goal for goal with both teams scoring off their centre pass. The second saw some great drive through the centre and timely interceptions from Piper earning her the Dentons Sportspower award We managed to break away slightly by half time but then the rain came down, both teams struggling to keep possession in slippery conditions.Inthelastquarterwechanged our game up, Emily worked hard to get somegreatinterceptions, winningherthe Boost and Shearer’s Cook award, which the goalies capitalized on. It was a great team game with everyone playing their part.
U15Bs-19to32
In very tricky netball conditions, we went down to North We adapted to the conditionswellatthestartandhadasolid 1st quarter with lots of attacking options on offers As the game went on, we struggled with the conditions and to maintain focus and possession Jeda Hibberd battled hard all game in GD as North’sgoalieshadastrongimpactonthe game. Awards went to Lainie Rainsford (Duckys Surf), Fasta Pasta (Ella Matthews),andJeda(JMIncentive).
U17s-39to31
In very wet wintery conditions, the girls came out firing against a tough North side. Our pressure was amazing, and we jumped on any loose balls. Our transition into attack was much better with many options for each pass Our defensive pressure across the court was great and we backed each other up picking up any touches Let’s keep working hard and come out firing this week. Awards this week went to Jaimie (Dentons Sportspower),Edie(PierinasHair)andour IncentivewenttoLauren(ChookHouse).
CGrade-31to36
A great 4 quarters of netball from this groupofgirls.Theyhavecomesuchalong way as a team and are still improving. Despite the cold wet weather conditions these girls continue to work hard the whole game and unfortunately let North slip away with the win in the last few minutes. Another great game from Bek Millowick (Pierinas Award), Eva Bonde and Hailey McGrath. Bella Polifrone also received the Laura & Vicky’s award. Let’s fight hard for a well-deserved win next week!
BGrade-36to27
Wet and miserable conditions today but the girls game out focused, and we had some brilliant passages of play, our transitionfromdefencetoattacklookeda lot better today We worked hard across thecourtforfourquarters, andwegotthe results we wanted. A well-played team game saw us come away with the win. Let’s keep working hard at training this week Awards went to Kalli Brown (Somerset) and Michelle Fleming (Foodland).
AReserve-66to51
A great win in very damp conditions! We started strongly working hard as a team defensively to give our attack end lots of scoring opportunities. Great to have Alice backondeckwithKeish&Keeleyworking together to stop Norths drive into attack and shut down opportunities. Jac and Alana worked hard to gain circle edge delivery and played their role defensively Donna and Rylee worked well to finish accurately Another great team effort to gainthewin.Pleasingtoseethingsweare working on at training transferring to our game.
Best players were Donna & Alana and awards went to Rylee (Laura & Vicky) and Alice(AlternateLife).
AGrade-57to42
In challenging conditions, we adjusted well to a short patient style of play which was finished accurately by Dem & Tab to give us a 6-goal buffer at the first break. A lapse in intensity at times during the second saw North seize the opportunity to bridge the gap to 4 at half time. The second half saw us produce some outstandingdefensivefullcourt pressure. Lillie, Lisa, Lauren & Portia jumped on any loose passes and forced errors giving us opportunities to set up a 31/20 second half Thehighlightofthewinwasthenonstop teamwork in defence and perfect finishingbyTabathaandDemi.
Best players and awards went to Demi (Sassi)andLauren(McCourts).

CGrade: The C grade girls went out strong against a very talented South Michelle Mutch GS and Ebony MutchGAstartedthereshooting offfantastically,gettingthefirst2 goals for the game. Their attacking co-partners of Amber Spratling in C and Katie Gill-Killey in WA, fed into the girls with some great passes. They finished the first quarter 7-11 South's way
No changes were made at quarter time meaning the same girlswentouttoputthepressure over the ball down the court, trying to slow down the South channels.Thereweresomegreat hands to balls by Jamie George WD and Tania Mutch GD The girls went into the half time breakwithascoreline12-24.
The team made a few changes in defence, putting some height into the ring, bringing on Amy Crauford to GK, Jamie into GD and Janine Parsons into WD along with some fresh legs in the C with Brianna Spratling. Putting an extra bit of pressure on in the centre court had the girls sending a few turnovers down to the attack end to no avail with the south defence managing to pick off a few balls and return it to their goalies. This led to a 1738 score line at the end of the thirdquarter
The final quarter saw Michelle back in goals with Ebony They worked the ring well but were unable to get the ball in cleanly forashot.Downthedefenceend
Tania came back on into GK, working with Jamie in GD and Janine in WD. Putting hands over the ball as much as possible and rebounding strongly under the ring helped slow down the South goalies The Cats' passages of play down the court in such wet weatherwerefantastic.
