One Hyde Park, London

”I would like to be known for buildings which are full of light, which are light in weight, which are flexible, which have low energy, which are what we call legible – you can read how the building is put together.“ Richard Rogers, Pritzker Prize winner 2007

”bulthaup kitchens were an obvious brand choice for the apartments at One Hyde Park where exceptional quality and the highest standards were demanded throughout the development. The fitted bulthaup kitchens feature in all base build apartments and complement the exquisite interiors for this exclusive address.“ Nick Candy

Four years in the making, the exclusive One Hyde Park development boasts one of London’s most prestigious addresses: standing between Hyde Park and the Knightsbridge business district, on the former site of a 1950s office building. Slap bang between Harrods and Harvey Nichols, the complex is right next to the Mandarin Oriental hotel, which it is linked to via an underground tunnel, providing services to the luxury apartments. The project vision was to fuse urban living with rural greenery, and ar-

afford unique views, while integrating the greenery of the park into the apartment interiors. Bronze-coated copper screens provide both solar shading and maximum privacy. Inside the apartments, high-quality materials are the order of the day, with wood and stone surfaces dominating. Made-to-measure bulthaup b3 kitchens in two color palettes are a natural addition to the exclusive design – and were key in ensuring that the units secured top prices in London’s super-premium segment. chitect Richard Rogers made it a reality. The four glass-and-concrete pavilions, each between 10 and 14 floors high, are connected by fully glazed circulation cores, incorporating stairs, lifts and lobbies. At night, light installations created by James Turell add a whole new dimension to these areas – which provide the 86 luxury apartments with direct access to their underground car park. Whether a one-bedroom or luxury apartment, all units offer bright and airy open spaces. The glass façades

2,700 square meters on the top two floors, the luxury apartments offer a spectacular view over London, and include features such as a wine cellar, panic room and bulletproof windows. Comprehensive security, such as a doorman, is available to all residents. The Mandarin Oriental grants access to services such as a movie theater, conference room, pool, sauna, squash court and a golf simulator. On the ground floor, this upmarket address is home to Rolex, McLaren and Abu Dhabi Bank. And in

line with the growing importance of sustainability issues – particularly in the premium segment - the complex features eco-friendly building systems, including innovations such as geothermal heating.

Perched on The Peak, Hong Kong’s number-one location, this complex by architects LWK offers a panoramic view of the Kowloon peninsula and Victoria Harbor. The development includes 22 buildings arranged in two rows, a club house featuring an infinity pool and a spacious gym and spa area. There are two building types: two- and three-floor, each with its own garden and garage. In one of the world’s most densely populated cities, space on this scale is a true luxury – and the interiors, too, do not disappoint. Large glass panels bridge the outdoor and indoor environments, opening up stunning views and bright, fluid spaces. Tailor-made bulthaup b3 kitchens add a further edge to the upmarket development, with three premium finishes: apple, oak and bamboo. The project achieved record prices in Hong Kong’s luxury segment.

Hong Kong is one of the most expensive and densely populated urban areas in the world – meaning a premium home is unlikely to be a mansion surrounded by a garden, but instead a luxury apartment high over the city. This five-skyscraper complex in Kowloon - the cultural heart of the Asian metropolis, and home to many of its people – is a prime example. Imperial Cullinan, another proud landmark development by Sun Hung Kai Properties after the resounding success of The Cullinan, now stands by Victoria Harbour as the newest emblem of utmost luxury and cosmopolitan sophistication – all encapsulated in its waterfront residential address. They accommodate 633 luxury apartments. The glass façades provide a stunning view of Victoria Harbor, while lending a bright and airy feel to the interiors. 633 made-to-measure bulthaup b3 kitchens provide a high-quality focal point for these high-end apartments.

”Being one of the most luxurious projects developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties in recent years, bulthaup kitchen´s respectable reputation, remarkable quality, and attention to detail are exactly what our prestige customers at Imperial Cullinan are looking for.“ Sun Hung Kai 30

The new, gleaming white Residenz Tivoli complex in Lucerne blends in perfectly with the distinguished hotels that surround it: Schweizerhof, National and Palace. Situated directly on the north-western side of Lake Lucerne, it is just a few steps away from Lucerne’s promenade. The new apartments were built on the site of the belle époque Carlton-Tivoli, which was considered one of Lucerne’s leading hotels. Karl Steiner AG was contracted to build a development in the style of a grand hotel of old, based on the architectural concept of Professor Hans Kollhoff. The seven-story neo-classical building includes 59 upmarket apartments, with underground parking. 40 units face the lake, with a view of Mount Pilatus; the remainder overlook the green space at the rear.

The building’s simple yet expansive appearance, reminiscent of a historical sanatorium or traditional boarding house, continues throughout the interior. From the foyer, through the airy corridors, to the apartments, a sense of neo-classical simplicity coexists with a light, spacious atmosphere. Whether a ground-floor unit with a garden, a top-floor maisonette or something on the floors inbetween, all the apartments have balconies and terraces. The large windows across the front offer a range of attractive views, and provide light to the high-ceilinged rooms. The use of luxurious, high-quality materials and finishes throughout the communal areas is echoed within the apartments. Tailor-made bulthaup b3 kitchens, with a range of surface finishes, provide a

focal point for the open-plan rooms. The highquality, stylish materials are complemented by high-specification appliances. In keeping with the theme of five-star luxury living, the complex offers a personal concierge service and additional amenities such as a cooled wine cellar, luxurious sauna and pool areas.

”Thanks to the expert and professional working relationship between the construction site management, architect and kitchen manufacturer, we were able to achieve the results we’d hoped for, and within the defined timeframe. The building meets all customer requirements in terms of function and high quality.“ Rudolf Möhl, Steiner AG

Bel Sit, Zurich Architect and investor Prismag Bau AG, Zollikon Peter Kyncl, Zürich Developer Allreal Generalunternehmung AG, Zürich bulthaup partner bulthaup Zürichsee, Küsnacht Number of kitchens installed 8 bulthaup b3 Completed in 2006

Close to Zurich, on the lower right banks of Lake Zurich, an area also known as the Gold Coast, lies the small town of Herrliberg, with a population of 6,000. In 2006, architect and investor Peter Kyncl built two apartment blocks on the town’s south-facing slope. The two terraced structures are designed in harmony with the hillside’s topography, and despite a total floorspace of 2,250 square meters, blend in with the scattered surrounding buildings. In keeping with local tradition, the two terraced apartments are framed by vineyards. The underlying concept of integration with the surroundings, and the incorporation of the surroundings into the apartments themselves, was pivotal to the project. While the 10 apartments, which range in size from 150 to 370 square meters, have only a few carefully placed openings in the exposed concrete walls, they open out onto a spacious terrace across their full width at the front of the living space, offering a panoramic view of the lake. Frameless glass balustrades ensure a completely unobstructed view. Inside, the bright, spacious interiors are finished with high-quality materials and stylish wooden surfaces. These high standards extend through all the house’s fittings, which include luxurious, well-appointed spa rooms. Custom-designed bulthaup b3 kitchens, with a light, high-quality look and feel, echo and complement the spacious ground plans and stylish interiors.

Park Hyatt, Shanghai Architect Kohn Pedersen Fox, New York Interior designer Tony Chi, New York Developer Mori Building Company bulthaup partner Madison (Shanghai) Ltd. Number of kitchens installed 3 bulthaup b3 Completed in 2008

The port of Shanghai is one of China’s most exhilarating cities, and a gateway to the rest of the world. With a population of 21 million, double the density of Berlin, space is at a premium and the focus is on high-rise. Here, on the banks of Lujiazui, the financial and hightech district of Pudong, is the world’s highest 5-star hotel, created in 2008. The Park Hyatt Shanghai occupies floors 79 to 93 of the Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC), which stretches up for 492m and has a total of 101 floors. New York-based architects and high-rise experts Kohn Pedersen Fox are responsible for what they themselves have dubbed “a vertical complex city.” In addition to the luxury hotel, China’s tallest building is home to a variety of amenities, such as a media center, an observatory, offices and a rich mixture of restaurants. It truly is a vertical city in its own right. The

center’s foundation stone was laid in 1997, but construction was temporarily interrupted by the Chinese financial crisis, and only resumed in 2000. The tower tapers and splits at the top, the two points are linked by what is called the sky bridge, in a design which has been likened to the most mundane of items: a bottle opener. The skyscraper has become an icon of China’s emergence as an economic powerhouse, and a key feature of Shanghai’s skyline. Express lifts glide up to the hotel lobby on the 87th floor in under a minute. Guests can take in sweeping views of the Huangpu river and Shanghai’s Pudong district from any of its 174 rooms and suites. They can also enjoy an array of bars and restaurants, a spa with infinity pool, a tai chi courtyard and eight private dining and conference rooms. In the same way that Kohn Pedersen Fox are skyscraper experts, Taiwanborn Tony Chi is among the best in interior design. Based in New York, his trademark elegant

simplicity is evident in the Park Hyatt Shanghai, where he has used earthy tones and luxurious materials to create an atmosphere of exclusivity. The exceptional character of the interior is reflected in the kitchens, using bulthaup b3, in the suites and the private restaurant on the 93rd floor. The openness and “floating” look of bulthaup b3 echo the spectacular views over the ever-changing big city. Simple white laminate surfaces contrast beautifully with the black-brown oak bars, which signify the beginning of the dining area without detracting from the openness of the room layout as a whole.

Daskalides, Ghent

Architect Bontinck Architecture, Ghent Developer Optima bulthaup partner Ligna Recta, Antwerpen Number of kitchens installed 100 bulthaup b1 Completed in 2011

The Daskalides development, completed in 2011, consists of 100 apartments in a central location close to Ghent’s medieval center. The complex comprises blocks with between four and seven floors, and was designed by Bontinck Architecture and Engineering. The building was constructed on the site of the former Daskalides chocolate factory, operated by Jean Daskalides – a legendary chocolatier of Turkish descent, who was known far beyond the borders of the East Flanders capital. The top floor is set back, and there a large number of balconies, and breaks in the contours of the complex. This prevents the architecture from feeling heavy or monolithic. This, combined with the greenery of the surrounding semi-public gardens, enables the building to blend in with its suburban environment, comprising diverse individual dwellings of much smaller scale. There are several leafy courtyards, which provide light, air and privacy. In total, there are 27 studio apartments, 64 two-room, 8 three-room and

2 four-room apartments. Bedrooms and other “quieter” zones face the courtyards, whereas “louder” spaces that are used more actively face outwards. A focus on functional efficiency extends into other forms of efficiency – for example, with special energy-saving glass windows throughout. The brick-and-glass exterior contrasts with the light, natural materials used for the interior, and the spacious, open ground plans, which enjoy an abundance of light. The beautifully simple bulthaup b1 kitchens perfectly match the interiors, and reinforce the character of the rooms.

PGA Catalunya Resort, Girona Architects Carlos Ferrater, Damian and Francisco Ribas, Lagula, De Blacam and Meagher Interior designer Natalia Sureda Developer Denis O’Brien bulthaup partner Lb| leopold bautista Number of kitchens installed 33 bulthaup b3 Completed in Phase 1: 2011 Phase 2 + 3: 2012

Located in the north-east of Catalonia, a few minutes’ drive from Girona – the city with the highest standard of living in Spain – this luxury development benefits from a stunning countryside location. Covering an area of 300 hectares, the resort is surrounded by picturesque beaches and idyllic pine forests, with a striking view of the Pyrenees. It also shares its location with Spain’s two best and most spectacular golf courses. The development is divided into two phases, and will include townhouses, villas and apartments, in addition to clubs, cafes and restaurants, a variety of sports facilities, and security and concierge services.

The various property types are arranged into clusters, and by the end of phase two there should be 300 separate units on offer. Each individual building is integrated into the natural surroundings, with unobstructed views of the golf course. The first of the total of 15 villas and townhouses, designed by leading architects such as Carlos Ferrater and the Ribas brothers, have already been completed. A committee of design experts supervises the development, ensuring not only high quality standards, but also consistency in design language and a contemporary, modernist style. A key priority is that the diverse white buildings harmonize with their lush, green surroundings. The build-

ings which have been constructed to date serve as templates for further properties, resulting in a mix of bespoke self-builds and standardized, turn-key offerings. The sizes and ground plans vary, but there is emphasis on spaciousness both indoors and out. All properties feature large, open-plan rooms, finished with high-quality wood and stone, sustainable building systems, and exclusive equipment and fittings. The kitchens and dining areas are equally stylish, featuring bulthaup b3 products, which have already been installed in two villas and 15 townhouses.

Anping, The Carefree Bay, Taiwan Architects JYC Architect C. J. Han, Taiwan Developer FU-DU Building Co., Ltd. bulthaup partner Lafon Trading Co., Ltd. Number of kitchens installed 10 bulthaup b2 Completed in 2010

The port town of Tainan is one of Taiwan’s oldest cities, located in the south-west of the country. Although it is the island’s fifth-largest city, it has managed to retain its rural character. The building complex is located in the Anping district, an area that still bears many traces of its history as a Dutch East India Company trading base. The adjacent coastal region is home to many species of birds, and a host of other flora and fauna. Nature and the ocean played a key role in shaping the architecture of the development. Completed in 2009,

phase 1 saw the construction of luxury singlefamily dwellings on the north-east end, integrated seamlessly into the surrounding nature. During phase 2, five multi-story residential buildings – which also blend harmoniously with the landscape – were built on the northwest end. Asymmetrical balconies and the lines of the walls break up the contours of the 6-, 11- and 13-floor buildings. This prevents the architecture from feeling heavy or monolithic, while opening up stunning seascapes and creating unique outdoor space. Both outside and

in, exposed concrete and glass dominate. The large glass panes provide views of the greenery beyond – but also draw nature and daylight into the interior, creating large, airy spaces. Concrete and glass are complemented by highquality wood and stone surfaces. In these surroundings, the bulthaup b2 kitchen workshop, with its open-plan style and premium stainless steel and walnut surface finishes, is right at home.
