However, do you know that this creamy, delicious favorite drink of yours can be made at home? Xu Zheng, a Taiwan reputable cook, shares his simple recipe to let get you started.


What is chatime pearl milk tea? Chatime pearl milk tea has been called different names in different countries. Chatime pearl milk tea also called milk tea, pearl tea, bubble tea, boba nai cha, boba tea, tapioca tea(to name a few) originated from Taiwan and has gained popularity worldwide. Either you want it sweet or savory, or you prefer milky or not, or yours is fruit or nut, this beverage is there to serve you according to your preference. Plus, it has chewy bouncy balls to munch on and have fun. Moreover, there are different flavors such as black or jasmine tea for plain tea flavor, strawberry, honey or mango for fruit flavor infusion, and also Taro. However, this article is all about the simple classic black tea with milk. It’s not too sweet unlike the ones sold in shops, superfast except for the cooling time, and almost all the ingredients required (except for boba) are sitting right in the kitchen cabinets. Let’s dig into it!


Ingredients • 1-2 black tea bags (per serving) • 1 cup of boiled water • 1/4 cup quick-cooking tapioca pearls (per serving) • Whole milk (or any other preferred milk) • 1/2 cup sugar granulated sugar (or more as preferred)


Syrup ingredient

1/2 cup of water

1/2 cup of sugar


Prepare the Tea • Add a cup of water in a pot and bring to boil on high heat. • Remove from heat after it is boiled and add 1 tea bag or 2 for a stronger tea flavor. • Remove the tea bag after 15 mins and leave it to cool.


Prepare the Boba or Tapioca Pearls • Put 2 cups of water to a saucepan and bring to boil • Add ¼ cup of tapioca balls and stir immediately to avoid sticking • Leave it to boil for 5 mins. It is done when it is soft and floating on the water. • Drain using a strainer and transfer to a clean bowl. • Pour the prepared syrup on it until the boba is immersed. • Leave it for 20 mins in room temperature • Strain the boba and refrigerate until when it’s ready to be served.
