This portfolio presents some of my work that covers a diversity of design projects ranging from Urban design and Architecture design. The projects are shown in a simple understandable manner rather than full detailed approach. 5

GranVia Greenway MBARCH / Master’s Project Since the great revault of post-industerial era, road, freeways and machinery have been taking our cities gradually, making them the starting point for a fearful future awaiting us. Therefore, we need to think and rethink again about how to deal with the scares we are creating by our own hands in our own society. The main problem in our cities are the hard black and gray scape that slices our communities by making spaces offer a low quality of life and harder to live a healthy life. Therefore, This proposal introduces nature as an Urban Catalyst the connects city’s districts together, connects people to people, and people to elements of Nature. Team: Individual Work

New Urban Greenway Connection In my proposal, I would like to introduce an “Urban greenway along Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes as an urban catalyst to improve the urban quality of life in the city, by healing the cuts created from the infrastructures. The main aim of the proposal is to prioritize inhabitance over automobiles, and to improve the social, ecological, and economical aspects of the city. The concept is not changing any of the existing conditions, but its about preserving then adding and enhancing through the design aspects mentioned before.

METZINGEN OUTLET Bachelor Project This design studio was part of Bachelor program in Stuttgart University. It took place inMetzingen, an outlet located in the middle of the Ermstal. Metzingen was known for its wine, because its surrounded by wine yards and typical regional orchards. Moreover, Metzingen is known now for its outlet shopping area where people come from other countries all around Germany to shop there. Metzigen is a unique city that combines the old classic and modern architecture deigns. Our aim was to connect the two cities in many means. Starting from visual connection till combining the old and new styles to create an architecture style that causes harmony. The abounded river was taken into consideration to be designed so it would strengthen the spacial quality in the outlet and blend the new and old city, causing a dense active environment. The Project is divided into both a group and individual work. Team: Youssef Rafik, Roubair Ashraf

AZBAKYA MARKETHALL Integrated Design Studio AL-AZBAKEYA is an old historic district located in Down-Town, Cairo, Egypt. where most of the city activities take place. The Project scope was to make a new market hall replacing the old Azbakeya market. The site has a huge park, that is not used by the public,so the first step was to integrate the Market hall with the green space by making an accessable green roof with ramps from the park to the other side of the site creating an organic shaped envelope which will shape the market hall Team: Youssef Rafik, Roubair Ashraf, Abdelrahman Ghoniem, Ranya Ayman

ALEXANDER’S TOWER Towers Design Studio This design studio main aim was to develop a proposal of a tower design on Alexandria’s waterfront, where the tower is represented as a land-mark for public attraction. The site is located near the Citadel of Qauitbay, a palace that occupies a space directly related to the Mediterranean sea, which has the perfect visual connection towards both the sea and the city. The tower acts primary as a Hotel; moreover, it is integrated with public facilities that offers the spaces where the public can access and use. Team: Individual Work

MASPERO TRIANGLE Design Studio VI Maspero triangle has a long history of being an important spot in the center of Cairo. It covers space that can be used to offer a diversity of public facilities and Businesses that will attract global and national Business Corporations. Moreover, this plot of land is surrounded well known places that have important historical and cultural backgrounds. The proposed Master plan was divided on different groups; all group had to work on their plot and synchronize with the surrounding. Finally, the individual design projects were designed to be part of the surrounding context and formed to follow the functions they serve. Modular Local Housing Internship The main aim of this design internship is to develop a modular housing the takes a small plot of land to be occupied by low income class families. In order to create a modular housing, we started by designing a modular concrete structure that would be prefabricated and brought into site to be instantly built. The building occupies a 4 meters by 8 meters plot of land with only one elevation opne for the natural light and ventilation. Team: Youssef Rafik, Mahmoud Samir, Roubair Ashraf, Abdelrahman Ghoneim,

RENDERS Exterior & Interior In order to visualize the spaces created through Architecture and Urban designs, it is important to create 3D renders where the Public/Client can feel and imagine the project in a real-life context. Therefore, this chapter shows some of the renders that I have done throughout the years; some of the renders were done through being a part of a team, others were totally modeled and rendered by myself.

3D MODELING Modeling and Postproduction This project soul purpose was to improve our skills in modeling through digital Softwares such as Rhino. The challenge of this project was to model a full sci-fi 3D scene that is presented in a 2D painting. The modeling was developed and enhanced duo to the blurriness of the painting; Vray was used to apply materials texture and to render the 3D model. Finally, Photoshop was used for post production where the 3D clay render became more lively with the surrounding atmosphere. Team: Youssef Rafik, Roubair Ashraf, Abdelrahman Ghoniem, Seif Tagoury
