Tips To Help Students With Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a learning disorder which involves difficulty in reading. Children suffering from dyslexia are not able to read fluently and have problems with learning. Many children suffering from dyslexia also have issues when it comes to spellings and writing. Handling children with dyslexia is quite a task because it involves problems with understanding. Every child might have a different set of symptoms but some of the common signs involve struggling with new words, not able to understand rhymes, low reading speed than normal, etc. Children with dyslexia have to be handled with care and patience. One can opt for a therapy for dyslexia online too. Children may also suffer from anxiety and trauma if they are not able to learn the concepts in school like other students. In such cases, the parents and teachers both have to work together to make the child comfortable. Here are some tips to help students with dyslexia in a school environment. •

Teachers need to be aware of dyslexia thoroughly. In order to handle a child with dyslexia, understanding this learning disorder is a prerequisite. Teachers handling children with dyslexia need to be flexible in their teaching methods because children with dyslexia are slow-learners as compared to other children. Children with dyslexia might not be able to grasp loads of information in one go and due to the same teachers need to divide every task into smaller bits of rememberable information so that the children can retain that information easily. For children with dyslexia, reading is the most difficult task. Teachers should make these children read smaller sentences which are easier to understand as well. Moreover, introduction of new words in the vocabulary must be done patiently so that the child does not feel nervous. Teachers should encourage children to read aloud so that they feel confident. It is also necessary not to force them to read in front of the whole class because that can create a sense of anxiety in them.

It is best to make use of colours when it comes to teaching children affected by dyslexia. Using colourful graphs, diagrams and more pictures is also useful when teaching concepts to children suffering from dyslexia. It is necessary to track the improvement in the child when he/she is suffering from dyslexia. Keeping a track on skills like reading, writing and spellings are essential because only then can one understand the severity of the disorder.

Try using therapy for dyslexia online and help your child cope with this disorder effectively.
