Case 1 8M house Based on the premise of long-lasting residential service life as the main factor for decision-making, the 120-square-meter area has been cleverly re-planned and expanded. Compared with the extra floor space, designers are more inclined to increase the volume, so only 20 square meters of floor space is added in the whole process. The architects took a more sustainable approach to the transformation, based on the existing building frame structure, combining the thermal quality and structure of the existing concrete with some new elements, including the construction of a warm roof, thermal Broken aluminum nodes, natural and sustainable material selection, solar hot water and integrated heat recovery systems.

Contrary to the original situation, the POP! Up concept promotes an interior that includes a series of thermostatic materials, including travertine floors, larch boards for ceilings and walls, and oak and brass metal products. detail. At the same time, a fine texture and brass layer have been added to the material on this basis, so as to achieve the highest level of craftsmanship and details. Therefore, the resulting residential space not only reflects the exquisite craftsmanship of the building, but also brings fun to the daily lives of the occupants, thereby satisfying their needs and desires for durable family homes.

The concept of POP! Up was inspired by a new social kitchen space that is located on the ground and can receive soft natural light and has the opportunity to interact with the landscape. As a result, new bedrooms and suites are connected on the ground floor, which also provides access to the outdoor roof space. The dining area features a double-height space that complements the remaining space. At the same time, the modern extension can be regarded as a new kind of embedding, which effectively escapes the original residential space from the shackles of concrete and extends to the vertical space. In this way, only two walls and part of the roof were removed for the formation of the new space.

Conceptually, POP! Up is considered to simply squeeze the cladding upwards, covering the skin of the marine-grade aluminum panel cladding, keeping fit to existing features. Because the window position is set to frame as much of the surrounding mountain views as possible, and a large glass roof is used at the same time, the entire space can show dynamic light and shadow changes during the day. At the same time, the design is also based on the consideration of creating privacy and passive functionality. The entire extension process is based on obtaining more solar energy. All chimney vents are arranged to use breeze to ensure that the indoor temperature is kept moderate.

Two wooden volumes with angled rooflines comprise the home's massing. Different varieties and treatments to the material were used for the structure, walls, cladding, and interior finishes.

Dark horizontal planks wrap the home, and are held in place with slightly paler vertical elements that align with the building's structure.

FLOOR ACCESS

The north orientation towards the street, opposite to the sea views (oriented to the south and on the bottom of the lot, a common feature in the Uruguayan coast), entailed the need to plan expansions in both directions. The volumetric expression of the house refers directly to the programmatic planning; a lower volume contains the kitchen, living and dining rooms, and a second, two-floor volume with the bedrooms and bathrooms.

With the exception of the foundations, the construction was made entirely in wood, combining the use of harder species for structural parts and in contact with the exterior and softer types for the assembly of interior partitions and coatings. A set of hardwood verticals arranged every 2 feet guarantees the rigidity of the exterior coating of pine tree dyed in oil. In this way, the external language embodies the direct expression of constructive and material modulation.

Description from the architectural firm: Zilvar Hut is located on the outskirts of the small village of East Bohemia, surrounded by fields and forests In order to shorten the distance between the three family members and directly connect with the surrounding natural environment, the client's desire is to design an open, low-carbon wooden house. The design also takes into account the micro-climate formed by rain, strong westerly winds and the sun on the east, creating a quiet and peaceful living environment away from the busy modern world and creating an ideal long-term living place

The open-plan residence consists of staircases in the lounge, kitchen, and living area. Industrial prefabricated stairs end upstairs in the opposite house and extend to the bedroom, providing a communication space indoors. Moreover, the larger space created by huge glass windows and sliding doors creates the illusion of light and shadow. The sliding doors connect the interior and exterior east entrances, and use the same plane from beginning to end. The outdoor space away from the wind and rain surrounds the entrance to the north and accumulates to the east, providing a year-round dry outdoor space.

The Zilvar shape was inspired by a 4-year-old son with a client who wanted their house representative to be spiritual and lean towards huge oak trees. The sloping roof on the south side, leaning against the top of the oak tree, makes you feel like you are in the tree, but the sloping roof on the north side turns to the opposite direction, providing an excellent view across the countryside.

Case 3 Zilvar residential The Zilvar residence is designed for low carbon: the exterior structure is an assembled diffuse reflective open wall. The pine frame structure is designed using the clip-on building outline. The facade, roof, and interior are all made of pine boards; however, the outer roof is covered with "burning and coloring" technology for long-term use. The main living space uses a large area of ​​glass to make use of solar energy in winter, while in summer, huge wooden sliding shutters provide protection from solar radiation.

Every part of the interior and exterior, and the sunlight received, dramatically changes the shape of the house, making you feel like an explorer in a canyon. It is like a quiet harbor, refreshing the occupants and visitors

The Box House project built by using the U-Build system is one of 10 pilot houses chosen for the new Grand Designs series. It was built on the first street in Graven Hill, Bicester which is a pioneering Development of 1900 Custom and Self Build houses. The Graven Hill project is of national significance, a ‘vanguard’ project aiming to help the government double CSH Homes by 2020.

Case 4 BOX house The insulation is very good, the building does not need a radiator.A single ring of 22mm copper tubing is sufficient to provide background warmth, thereby saving cost, materials and maintenance.In addition, the copper tubes are surface-mounted, providing design features that do not affect the final position of the furniture.

All the Windows of the house are triple glazed.

The U value is at the passivation furnace level of 0.15 Wm2K, and the air tightness is also expected to be at the passivation furnace level.

The solid structure allows the house to take root in the ground, as well as the garden on the roof, as well as the thick structural layers.

The supply chain USES environmentally certified materials.This includes FSC and PEFC, such as Riga birch plywood and WISA spruce plywood.Other non-toxic ecological materials have been specified, including cashmere insulation.

U-Build takes a circular economy approach to building. The system uses a selection of durable non-toxic materials – choose cost effective OSB, robust Spruce, or refined Birch. The walls are insulated with natural sheep’s wool insulation, and can be clad in a variety of materials. See our gallery above for built examples.
