INBAL PINTO & AVSHALOM POLLAK DANCE COMPANY was founded in 1992. The company consists of 12 dancer/ actors collaborating to make connections across various artistic disciplines to convey new theatrical creations informed by memory, longing, ideas, and imagination. As the artistic leaders of the company, Pinto and Pollak create, direct, choreograph, and design dance performances in their unique style. Their award-winning productions have been presented in Israel and across the globe, including Oyster, which was presented in New Haven at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas in 2002, and was the 2000 winner of the Israel Theater Academy Award for Best Production. They were awarded Israel’s ministry of culture award in 2011 for their creations Toros and Rushes Plus, and the 2014 Israel Critics Circle Award for Best Dance Show for Wallflower.

INBAL PINTO began her formal dance training at age 13. She studied graphic arts at The Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, and worked as a graphic designer during her army service. She was a member of the senior BatSheva Company after first joining their Ensemble. In 1990, she began her career as a choreographer. She was invited to The American Dance Festival to take part in its International Choreographers Program in both 1997 and 1998. In 2000 she won a Bessie— the New York Dance and Performance Award for her creation Wrapped. In 2000, she was given the Israel’s Ministry of Culture Award for Dance and the Tel Aviv Municipal Award for Artistic achievements.

AVSHALOM POLLAK was trained as a classical actor and graduated from The Nissan Nativ Drama School in Tel-Aviv. He has acted in a large number of films and television programs, as well as many plays at the Habima National Theatre, the Cameri Theatre, Gesher Theatre, and Haifa Municipal Theatre.
