Новый двигатель воспринимается мягче, чем когда-либо и создает незабываемый «рык» со стороны глушителей. Вне всякого сомнения, этот двигатель, созданный под влиянием духа MotoGP, развивающий 182 л.с. при 12500 об/мин и крутящий момент 115,5 Нм при 10000 об/мин, является наиболее технологически продвинутым двигателем для спортивных машин Yamaha.
