GRAPHIC DESIGN PORTFOLIO
YAT KIU JASPER CHENG
COVER LETTER: In my most recent creative pursuit, I dedicated several years to the architecture and design industry, honing my skills in spatial and visual curation. Yet, beyond mastering the craft, I gleaned profound insights into the importance of collaboration and attentive listening while working with clients and colleagues. However, recent life circumstances have prompted a pause in my architectural journey. Consequently, a new vista has emerged, providing the time for me to explore additional avenues of creativity, and I intend to relish this opportunity to broaden my range of creative skillsets. Although my experience in graphic design is somewhat limited, I am committed to perpetual self-improvemen and seek practical scenarios to apply my skills. While I have found deep fulfillment in my personal projects within the realms of hospitality and fine arts so far, I remain mindful of the vast array of intricacies and experiences awaiting discovery. I am confident that my prior experience in architecture will facilitate a comfortable transition into graphic design, while enriching ongoing dialogues within the field. Having formed friendships within the KERB and YOUTH studios community, I have long admired Studio eNaR’s work and I am eager to learn from the professionals whose designs I regard as inspiration on a daily basis. 003 001

INTERIOR DESIGN CONCEPT GRAPHICS
CO-WORKING SPACES PROJECT WITH 5PLUS ARCHITECTS A confidential project situated inside an industrial estate, colours pallets were carefully chosen to orchestrate a visually balanced co-workspace. As a team we put together presentation documents to graphically communicate our ideas, showcasing our confidence in the use of colour at the same time.
Colour pallet and textures
MATERIALS LOOK & FEEL COLOUR SCHEME, PATTERNS AND TEXTURES STUDY
Focusing heavily on the visual elements within the space while designing, we shifted our section towards the warmer side of the colour spectrum, with hints of red as a complimentary to provide balance. The pallet was flattened on the page graphically to mirror the visual hierachy in both the 2D and 3D space. 033

RESIDENTIAL PROJECT GRAPHICS
WEST BAR SQUARE, SHEFFIELD PROJECT WITH 5PLUS ARCHITECTS West Bar is a masterplan project in Sheffield, with 10 buildings to be built in total. Many eyes will lay on the project throughout its development hence documents produced must be with clear and strict visual order. The sans-serif font Helvetica is used widely to present read information, sitting neutral as a backdrop to the architectural techical drawings.
Siteplan and layout, feasibility study design access statement
“TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS” VISUAL HIERACHY IN ARCHITECTURE INDUSTRY Templates were made avaliable by 5plus internal graphic designer to assist employees in producing ‘on brand’ graphics. Helvetica serves as the consistent font, used fairly common in the industry. Text and read information are often situated on the top left side of pages while graphics are situated on the right side, setting context for readers before exploring the visuals. Users are given pre-measured flexibility in rearranging information within these zones.
