ATHLETICS & ARTS

High School Witness Theater Program

$72,000

One of the most impactful and unique experiences a student can have at the Yeshivah of Flatbush is to participate in our Witness Theater Program. Witness theater brings together Flatbush seniors and Holocaust survivors through a partnership with Selfhelp Community Services. After months of in-person meetings, Shabbats shared together, and phone conversations, the survivors’ stories are re-enacted on stage on Yom Hashoah to a community audience in our Khezrie Auditorium. The performance has also been shown at the Jewish Museum in NYC and at several NYC public schools.

The Boys & Girls Varsity Basketball Teams are made up of students in the 11th and 12th grades. Traditionally, coaches run tryouts for the teams in early September and will carry between 12-16 players per team on the active roster each season. Teams will train 2-3 times per week throughout the season. The basketball season runs from early October through early February, and playoffs conclude in midMarch. The Varsity teams will usually travel to represent Flatbush at an annual tournament or Shabbaton. Varsity teams will often play in a local pre-season tournament as well as at two or three preseason scrimmages.
