NEW! HOW SECURE IS YOUR DATA? UNDERSTANDING THE LAW 25
$20 ONLINE ONLY
Tuesday, November 26
6:30pm–8:30pm
Marlo Turner Ritchie
Founder and Primary Consultant, Social Impact Consulting
The recent data breach at Desjardins, thought to be one of the largest ever among Canadian financial institutions, impacted roughly 9.7 million people and businesses. This incident, combined with public demand for stricter data protection and rising fraud incidents, resulted in the passing of Law 25 in 2021, with additional provisions coming into effect in September, 2023.
How secure is your organization’s data? Law 25 obliges non-profit organizations and small businesses to comply with a range of norms and practices, which touch everything from how data is collected, to how it is stored and managed, to how stakeholders can request information about what kind of data is kept on them. This is a lot to put on the shoulders of already overwhelmed organizations, with no financial support accorded from the government.
At Social Impact Consulting, we worked hard to become compliant ourselves, and in turn, are eager to share the tools and knowledge that we have developed with our clients and the greater community.
Join us for an interactive workshop on the highlights of Law 25 and learn how you can take steps to ensure that your organization or business is compliant, protect yourself from fines, and enhance the security of sensitive information for your clients and stakeholders.
