Wayfinding System Toronto, Canada User Journey Prepared by Yessi Arifin April 2013

USER JOURNEYS You can highlight one or more of the typical journeys related to the personas described earlier on.

USER SCENARIO

Landmark Jenny Li comes from the suburbs of Toronto and decides to spend her Sunday afternoon at Kensington. The neighbourhood is tucked in between major intersections, it was thanks to the signage on the sculpture that she managed to find the area. The sign was within her sight from the street car stop that she got off at.

Street sign The street signs were noticable, because they were branded with the area. It functions as a placemaker and made Kensington distinct from the surrounding areas. Jenny Li feels oriented after seeing where she is based on the street sign and landmark.

USER SCENARIO

Map Jenny Li makes her way over to the map to see what the market has to offer. She’s not hungry so she decides to do a little shopping. The map facilitates what she’s looking for easily enough. Under shopping she was interested in the category furnitures, because she was looking for new fixtures for her apartment. She looks at "Bungalow," and sees the number "34" in dark brown. When she tried to look at the map to see where Bungalow is, she finds that the dark brown stands for the street "Augusta Avenue," so that was how she found out that Bungalow was in the middle of the street just before St. Andrew street. She roughly counted the number of shops, and it would approximately take her 7 minutes to reach her destination.

USER SCENARIO

Store Front Sign She found that the store front signs along the way functioned like a progress tracker for her journey. Starting from "1" she could tell when she will reach "34." When she reached Bungalow, she was glad to see that it was at a price she could afford and the store included other things, like clothes and gifts that she is interested in as well. This encouraged her to enter the store even more. She made a purchase of a watch.

USER SCENARIO

Public Art Sign On the way home, Jenny sees a sign near a wall of graffiti. It was the public art sign and she found it interesting to get to know the context the painting was created in, the artist, and the material. There was so much more to Kensington than what she first thought.

SUMMARY/RESOURCES Write a brief conclusions addressing how the proposed system is an appropriate solution for the neighbourhood. Can repeat some of the points made in the introduction. List any key Resources you used (including image credits) in preparing the final proposal.

USER SCENARIO

Waste Station The waste station conveniently located in every block was highly visible. She found it easy to compost, recycle, as well as throw out her garbage.
