Finnish education and science policy stresses quality, efficiency, equity and internationalism. It is geared to promote the competitiveness of the Finnish welfare society. With the mission of providing high quality education that meets the changing needs of society, the universities of applied sciences in Finland are committed to equipping students with professional competency as well as maintaining a strong partnership with working life. Studies at the universities of applied sciences are a practical-oriented alternative to traditional university education and give the students an excellent combination of hands-on skills along with a strong theoretical knowledge base.
The bachelor-level studies at 26 universities of applied sciences include 210–270 ECTS credits that take an average of 3.5 to 4.5 years to complete. Postgraduate, professional master’s degree programmes offer gainfully employed graduates an excellent opportunity to deepen and expand their expertise.
