Objective– Choose a director and create a film festival based on his/her movie philosophy. Design a visual system for related objects in the event.

Practice–

Wim Wenders' films depict stories about people finding themselves on the road. I used graphic elements such as gradients and blanks to show my visual interpretation of five of his movies: 1975 Wrong Move, 1976 Kings of the Road, 1977 Alice in the Cities, 1987 Paris, Texas, and 2004 Don't Come Knocking.

Objective–

Choose a series of three books and redesign the covers for them. These books should share the same style but be different from each other. The style should be decided based on the book content and its target audiences.

Practice–

My goal is to introduce kids to profound stories between wild animals and human beings, and attempt to increase their empathy for wild creatures. My target audience is kids between 8 and 14. I used a dark background to differentiate my book from other kids books and used hand-drawn type and animal figures to bring out the playfulness of the stories. The form of the titles also go together with each animals’ features.

PaperSprout is an organization that advocates paper recycling and reducing paper waste. I developed it from a mail recycling sign in an apartment lobby and created a set of posters, a guide, an app and a website based on the original intention of the sign.

Practice–

Many women in modern world have low confidence about their body image. 'Luna' is an organization that helps women rebuild their confidence and self-esteem by making art works. I used the moon as a metaphor for women because it changes its forms but still stays beautiful and light the dark. I also added natural elements in different shapes to present each woman as unique and beautiful in their own way.

Choose one personal interest and turn it into a magazine brand. Design a brand identity system and apply it into the magazine content effectively.

Practice–

A perfect small bite can bring big happiness and contentedness to our mouths and minds. ‘bite’ is a magazine which introduces healthy food recipes and delightful cooking to bring out the pure joy of daily eating. I choose a graceful typeface to express lightness, and integrated a natural element into the logotype to build the identity.

Story–

Feeling overwhelmed and stressed are common symptoms of trying to deal with too much in a fast-paced and highly technological culture. Slow Living addresses the desire to lead a more balanced life and to pursue a more holistic sense of well-being in the fullest sense of the word.

The first thing is to put our smartphones and any technological devices away and try to cook a good meal or read a novel for an hour without any interuption. Some people may feel anxious without their phones on hand. The reason is that we are so used to the speed, and racing world.

To help people practice being mindful in their digital lives, I would like to promote the idea of a softer lifestyle and educate people about how to manage their digital behavior to have a better life.

Objective–

Encourage people to use their smart devices more consciously and wisely.

Practice–

IdleTime is an app that locks the screen when people need to take a break from their smart devices. It includes several functions such as reminders, bucket lists and statistics to help people manage their digital behavior and do things that really matter to them.
