WEEK 4 READING: TITLE OF READING Complete your reading before attempting these questions:

Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words) Pictorial (perspective) space generally was always linked to a fixed point avant-garde’s vision of new world. The key difference between perspective space and projection is perspective records what already exists, while projection constructs that which does not exist. The technical difference between perspective and projection is the absence of a vanishing point. Projection represents universal geometries and infinite space while perspective does not.

Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) Axonometric projection was first arise at military context. It was originally used to chart the three dimensional trajectories of artillery projectiles.

ILLUSTRATED MARIO’S NEW WORLD

This is the final drawings of Mario world in axonometric projections with characters added in. The most challenging part of this process is the attention and care needed when finalising the drawing. Utilising features like “send to back” and “send to front” in order to show the arrangement of the objects in correct orientation is important.
