MEASURED DRAWING OF A CROISSANT (UPDATED)
How to measure a Croissant? The drawing process was started with the sketching of the plan, top elevation, side elevation and sections of the croissant. The axonometric view of the croissant was then constructed in the following steps.10mm x 10mm grid was drawn on a trace paper over the croissant sections. The linework of each sections of the croissant was retraced on the grid and the points at which the section line intersects with the grid lines were marked. A new sheet of trace paper was overlaid at 45 degree on top of the plan drawing. By using the section cut line on the plan as a guide to project lines upwards every 10mm apart. Then, lines at 45 degree were drawn at 10mm apart vertically to construct a grid the same as the sections. Sections were used as a guide to mark on the intersection points. Next, the intersection points were joined to create the sections outline on the croissant. The remaining sections were then repeated using the same method. The techniques used in the process of drawing the croissant included rendering and hatching. From this task, photoshop gave me a good insight on how an imperfect drawings could be improved by adjusting the levels, brightness and erased off those flaws created in the scanning process. Through this task, I realised photoshop is indeed a useful toolkit.

NEW MARIO WORLD (UPDATED)
The making of new Mario world. The new Mario world is a scene occurred in the sky where the characters are moving along the fluffy clouds. The effect that was intended to achieve is to create a cartoon-liked world by adding the characters like mushrooms in order to create an extraordinary Mario world. Simplicity is the main consideration for this the world as the scene was obtained from a sky view. Hence, light blue is the major colour used in the new Mario world. Ultimately, the overall effect created was a clean, blue-liked new Mario world. The hidden space in the axonometric was explored by using imagination where the mountains were logically arranged in a correct order so that the overall axonometric drawing creates a harmonious effect between the objects like mountains and the characters.

Drawing equipment. 2H and H pencils, TSquare, set square, 0.1 and 0.4 fineliner, ruler and masking tape were used for this module.
Projection one. The first world started with the objects furthest in the distance and work forward. Then, 45 degree set square was used to project world lines forward into the 200mm x 200mm square.
Projection two. The objects in front of the scene were first drawn and the same process was repeated as in the projection one. Some new characters were added in.

Finalising the design. A final piece of trace paper was overlaid and the lineworks that were intended to keep were drawn again. 0.4 fineliner was used for section cut lines while 0.1 fineliner was used for all other linework.
PAPER LANDSCAPE
The making of new landscape The paper model is made up of both 2D and 3D panels with two different patterns. For 3D panels, there are three different height of panels making. The shortest panels are arranged at the centre of the landscape. Differentiation of surface and pattern are shown by using the larger openings for the surface while the 3D panels on the other hand have smaller openings. The effect of the whole terrain is performed by making the model to look like the surface on the earth where the protuding 3D panels with variable heights are used to describe as mountains while the surface is the land. The effect intended to create is successful with the use of both patterns as the 2D and 3D panels.

Assigned terrain. The original terrain assigned was used as an area to organised both 2D and 3D panels.
3D Blocks. An opening with three different sizes were created to attempt three variables panels with different heights.
2D Surface. 2D panels with a 45 degree rotated square opening were used to match the 3D panels. However, to show contrast, a larger opening was used in this surface. Aerial shot for both two dimensional and three dimensional panels to show the overall effect with the extruded panels.

Combination of 2D and 3D panels. Both 2D and 3D panels were arranged to the desire pattern where the centre of the landscape was occupied with shorter 3D panels.
INVISIBLE CITY
Cities & MeMory 1: DioMira
Diomira The city was interpretated as a grand and a notable place with features like silver domes, bronze statues and crystal theatre where visitor will be astonished by the decoration in the city. A great contrast was intended to show between the first and second perspective. Visitor catches a shock when first arriving the city by those glorious splendor in the first scene while the second scene describes the familiarity towards the city where people are living their daily life with food stalls all around the city. The glory of the city in the first scene is now turning into the memory of the citizens who are believed had the same experience as the visitor who arrived the city, Diomira.

Perspective 1- In this scene, the grandness of the city, Diomira gives a dazzling sight to Marco Polo. With features like the silver domes, bronze statues of gods and the lead path, the uniqueness of the city provides a sense of novelty to those who first reach Diomira. However, it seems to be an ordinary city to those who have seen this kind of beauties in other city during Renaissance period.

Perspective 2- A scene that depicts the daily life in the city where oppidan are busy running their daily errands in a night market in a September evening. Hence, for a man who just reached this destination feels envy towards the oppidan who believes had once experienced the identical situation in the evening. Contrary, the oppidan were happy at that moment but not for him. A great transition is shown from the entrance of the city with a sense of novelty to the place where people has get used to the living condition for a long period.

REFLECTION The concepts of flatness and projections, pattern and surface, frame and field are the key elements that had been used throughout these projects. From the lectures given on the frame vs field topic, the idea of clear arrangement and relationship to each object, spaces between objects is important to create a flow throughout the formation of field in module 4. Time management is the dominant issue that have learnt throughout the whole project. Improvement had been made from one project to another by minimising the time taken to complete a task and maximising the output like efficiency and quality. Softwares like Indesign, Rhino and Illustrator are indeed important toolkits that are needed in order to complete each task successfully. Mastering the skills is significant to familiarise ourselves with the softwares so that a high quality project could be produced. Skills like make 2D, scale a particular object and make a planar surface literally help to make the process of completing a task easily. The importance of line weight is also a great consideration to show contrast between the depth of each object and this can be done conviniently by using Illustrator. As a whole, the skills that have been learnt had proved how handy those softwares are to architecture students. Amendments had been made to improve my drawings in module 2. The inappropriate colour used for the mountain at first had been changed to a lighter tone in order to make it sensible. For module 1, flaws had been corrected using photoshop as well. Every module can actually be improved if more times are allocated to master the skills of each software. Particularly, module 1 and module 2 are considered not successful. For module 1, hatching should be improved in order to show the depth of the drawings. On the other hand, lack of creativity leads the module to be unsuccessful. However, the whole process throughout the semester is worth to be experienced as it provides new insights and perceptions in each module which is benificial in future undertakings.
