Special Gratitude: Message from Pak Dubes Desra Percaya
Welcome to Indonesia Career Excellence (ICE) 2021. It is truly my pleasure to welcome you to this annual career event hosted by the Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association in the UK (YIPA UK). For the past seven years, YIPA UK has played a key role in providing Indonesian students in the UK the opportunity to gain career insights from employers and professionals. The Indonesian embassy in London and myself champion this annual initiative, further advancing human capital development for our bright Indonesian talents.
Contents
Distinct from any other career event in Europe, ICE is tailored to Indonesian students overseas, as it connects students to employers with opportunities both across Europe and back home in Indonesia.
H.E. Dr. Desra Percaya
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and International Maritime Organization
Indonesians coming to the UK for further education is not new – I myself attained my higher education here. However, we are seeing an ever-increasing number of Indonesians gaining a European higher education degree and international exposure these days, making the work done by organisations like YIPA UK all the more important to enable Indonesians to compete in the international job markets. The Covid-19 pandemic also brings a new impetus for Indonesian students to be able to navigate future of work that has actually arrived. Great that this year’s ICE 2021 will also explore this theme on the plenary, along with careers that will allow you in rebuilding Indonesia’s economy through green recovery and in reimagining Indonesia’s digital economy post pandemic.

Through this annual career initiative, YIPA UK in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), British Council and Global Indonesia Professionals Association (GIPA) are facilitating career development of Indonesian students in the UK and Europe. A strong human capital is essential to the acceleration of Indonesia’s economic development, and university students across the UK and Europe can be a catalyst for this push. As the breadth of participating companies at ICE continues to grow, more business entities are given the opportunity to leverage this career platform to tap into a pool of bright future leaders. From the Indonesian State-owned Enterprises to global multinationals, I am deeply grateful to all of the participating companies for helping make this event a success. On this occasion, let me on behalf of the Indonesian Embassy express our highest appreciation to YIPA UK for organising this excellent initiative. I would also like to thank ICAEW, British Council, GIPA, the British Embassy Jakarta, British Chamber of Commerce Indonesia for supporting this annual career event. Warm regards
