Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words) According to Le Corbusier, “Pictorial Space is that which cannot be enterred or circulated through; it is irremediably space viewed from a distance, and it is therefore eternally resigned to frontality.” Le Corbusier emphasized the use of geometric and methematical pattern and relations between objects, which produce the aesthetics of harmony.

Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words) Flatness of Le Corbusier’s paintings are attributable to pure extentiion(flat), and the insistant continuity of edges which formed by the constellation of the object wedge together(mariage de contour). They pitted against the style that represent distance and depth with color. Le Corbusier only admit distance that is inherently fontal, which is the conceptual distance. By avoiding using black color, Le Corbusier transform distance and depth into the cesura between objects and the object itself.

WEEK 4 READING: TITLE OF READING Complete your reading before attempting these questions:

Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words)

Perspective limit space, make the space finite and closed. Superematism extend perspective to infinite. Perspective is always linked to a fixed point of view with the use of vanishing point. Perspctive illustrate what already exist, while axonometric construct what does not exist.Axonometric projection combines the immediacy of perspectival view with meassurability and transmissibility of orthographic projection. It is concerned with construction and consistancy of measurement.

Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) Axonometric first appeared in a military context, as it have measurability, prediction and verifiability. In eighteenth to nineteenth century, axonometric projection was taught to engineering students in school. The development of axonometric related closely to machanization and industrialization. It also extend scientific basis of representation in architecture.q

Equipments.

Combine front and back. The city on the ground of city is destroyed, citizens had to move to underground, start to construct and form their new lifes. After a long period of time, the connections between the original city and underground city has become fewer and fewer, now only two of them left. The underground city has become lively, with the use of bright color on their walls and streets. The natural underground river provide water recycle system to the citizens. At the moment, the ground below the underground river is still constructing, in order that it can provide larger places for people to live on.

Set up anxonometric projction.
