Content We are moving in an ever fast pace. The skyscrapers and urban construction are in full swing, while the neighborhood texture are gradually dying out... Facing with this changing world, I think the experience of city should not be a cacophony made by competing makers, but an natural voices echoing through our cities, blending with our cultures and histories. It is an Architectural ECHOES in Surroundings. In terms of architectural ECHOES, design must first respond to the environment around it , including the natural as well as man-made. The rational organization of space in catering to people's behaviors and interactions should also be considered, in architecture and urban settings. This portfolio focuses on the intersection between architectural and its locale. To further explores the dynamic properties of architecture and urban design in the ever challenging world.

The site is located in a downtown university campus, faced with two completely different pictures: the bustle metropolis and the tranquil of university campus. The challenge was to respond the environment around it, including the natural as well as the man-made. The proposal for the new building has been an exploration of the co-existing of landscape and man-made by introducing a walking access between nature and city.

The site is just at the edge of the campus, closely connecting with the downtown. To remain the lake view and the urban scene at the same time, the building is designed as a long walking access with two functional blocks. Walking Seeing The landscape sketch is devided into two parts: the walking access and viewing platform. Thus the building can porivede both active walking path and static leisure space. The site is located in the inner circle of the Guangzhou University Town, which was planned as a typical radiation structure. The complexity of the context - the urban requirements, the respect for heritage, the significance of the surroundings, the respond of the various public buildings constitutes a series of challenges that we had to deal with. The most significant problem is that how to trigger the public life in this area and strengthen interaction with the surroundings. The proposal should encourage and attract more people to participate public activities, rather than stay as a solitary complex.

When Blue Meets Green... Introduce a landscape valley as a staging post for the zone,from the south to the north. Not only is it a sightseeing site that "blue meets green"; but also a active culture zone that encourage people to communicate from those histonic relics to the mordern hybrid life. The valley is based on the geograpy of the site.

Introduction The vision is to let the Re-Eco City grow in the area through a flexible, constantly, ecological and instructive planning process. The Re-Eco city, sited adjacent to the site of Pearl River of Guangzhou, aims to counter the current privatized urban developments in China by creating a new twenty-first century porous urban space, inviting and open to the public from every side. Filmic urban public space; around, over and through multifaceted spatial layers, as well as the many passages through the project, make the Re-Eco City an "open city within a city".

Building Typology The challenge asks entries to envision an initial scenario of uses and functions, a n d a n o t h e r t h a t w i l l gradually transform this site.The second scenario is envisaged for 30 - 50 years in the future.In the second scenario, 30 – 50 years in the future, these healthcare functions will have been dispersed or consolidated to other locations, and housing and other urban uses will have replaced the healthcare functions in the same urban spaces and buildings. In this transformation of uses, the building stock itself will remain largely intact, mutating incrementally and partially to accommodate the changes of use.

Arc-Metabolism The major strategy in meeting the design challenge is to define the urban develop pattern. Buildings in this area are just like cells in organism. The building stock will keep selfreproduce and self-renewing under certain rules. What we are strongly considering is to establish metabolic pathways and make components time stable, lovable, energy effective towards space and forms. A striking feature of arch-metabolism is the similarity of the basic metabolic pathways and components between even vastly different functions. These striking similarities in metabolic pathways are likely due to their early basic stable structures and being retained because of the efficacy of each elements.

Micro-Morphology!
An exploration of fiber texture. Records dating back more than seven thousand years talk about products made of bamboo such as arrows, paper, building materials, and books. Once thought of as the building material of the poor, bamboo is now being used more prominently in all types of architecture. The fiber study of bamboo is based on the exploration of Micro-Morphology, including the up and down tread and the relationship between the gap and the scalesof unit.

The filter cleans rainwater in different degree in order to meet different uses. At the same time, the use of solar panels provides energy to heat water.
