In this class, participants will enjoy learning not only self-defense techniques through the discipline of TANG SOO DO, but will build confidence, competence and physical well-being as the mind and body grow stronger from the physical workouts. GAME DAY PLAY

VOLUNTEER AT THE FARM! Sharing the Harvest Community Farm is fueled by our incredible volunteers. As we are currently not able to offer drop-in hours, we have established a sign-up system for volunteering that is structured to ensure that social distancing, hand washing and other safety procedures are followed while welcoming volunteers to provide much-needed assistance in planting, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing produce and eggs for our community. WELLNESS FALL INTO FITNESS

This class will focus on trimming, toning and strengthening your entire body through the use of barbells, free weights, resistance bands and your own body weight. It’s a PUMPKIN SPLASH - jump on in and join us for a great cause - your community! If you’d prefer to swim virtually, the event will begin on Halloween and you may log your distance through 12/4/2021. The Swim-A-Thon raises money for the Gleason Family YMCA Annual Campaign. INDIVIDUAL SWIMMERS - PERSONAL GOAL SWIM CHALLENGE 12:00-3:00pm Raise or donate $50 for each hour in a lane. Swimmer chooses the distance and collects pledges per lap or a flat donation for their swim!
If you need assistance with your Thanksgiving meal staples and you reside in Wareham, Onset, Rochester, Carver or Marion, we may be able to help. Families who qualify will receive a turkey and all the fixings to prepare a traditional holiday dinner. Please call the Gleason Family YMCA to register beginning November 1st. The food will be distributed in a drive-by service in our parking lot abutting the outdoor pool. Please have your photo ID ready to show for the pick-up; it is required. SWIM LESSON SELECTOR STAGE A WATER DISCOVERY A parent/child class that introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment.
STAGE B WATER EXPLORATION Parents work with their children to learn fundamental safety and aquatic skills.
This is a co-ed, competitive and seasonal swim team running from 9/20/2021 - 3/6/2022. Practices are geared to build swimmer’s endurances, improve technique while developing a child’s social and physical potential. Swimmer must have good command of Freestyle (front crawl) and Backstroke with rudimentary or better Breaststroke and Butterfly. Attendance is required for a minimum of 3 practices per week to qualify for competitive events. Competition this season subject to ongoing health concerns in the interest of our swimmers’ safety. • • • •

STAGE 1 WATER ACCLIMATION Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit the pool.
STAGE 2 WATER MOVEMENT Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water.
STAGE 3 WATER STAMINA Students learn how to swim safely for longer distances. Rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg actions are introduced.
STAGE 4 STROKE INTRODUCTION Students develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick.
STAGE 5 STROKE DEVELOPMENT Students work on stroke technique in all major competitive strokes.
STAGE 6 STROKE MECHANICS Students refine stroke technique in all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.

MASTER’S STYLE SWIM CONDITIONING 2 Ages: 15+
Increase your endurance, strength, speed and stroke effectiveness. Focus will be on drill work to increase current swim abilities while building the swimmer’s potential as an athlete. Participants must be able to swim 200 consecutive yards (4 laps/8 lengths) of Freestyle. Meets 2x per week.
SWIM TESTING Need a swim test for a sailing school, to crew a boat, for a GSA/ BSA badge, for Tabor Academy orientation or other reasons? Please contact our Aquatics Department to schedule an appointment. A $5 fee will be assessed for simple tests (<15 minutes); a $15 fee will be assessed for tests of 16-30 minutes.

ACRO-CLINIC
November 23rd: 4:30-6:30pm • Ages 5-12 Over Thanksgiving break we will be offering a tumble clinic for any dancer interested in working on their skills. We will be setting up our tumble equipment. Class will focus on advanced tumbling skills, flexibility training, contortion tricks and more. There will be multiple instructors available to help assist dancers with individual goals (pending enrollment) and this clinic is open to both current dancers and their friends. 1 in 8 people will go hungry in Southern New England due to the COVID Pandemic. Building on our existing programs, YMCA Southcoast has partnered with The Greater Boston Food Bank to launch the Full Plate Project. The Full Plate Project aims to address the growing lack of access to healthy, affordable food during economic struggles. The project will distribute 1 million pounds of food in 2021 to our members and neighbors.

VOLUNTEER GUIDE Sharing the Harvest Community Farm is a collaboration between the Dartmouth YMCA and the United Way of Greater New Bedford’s Hunger Commission. Sharing the Harvest is a volunteerdriven community farm established in 2006 as a grassroots effort to fight hunger and help feed our neighbors in need. All produce and cage-free eggs are donated to 19 local hunger relief programs throughout the Southcoast region.
WHAT TO EXPECT
HOW TO DRESS Wear comfortable old clothes and closed toed shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy. Long pants and long sleeve shirts are recommended Dress for wind, prepare for rain. Brimmed hat. Do not wear sandals, flip flops or high heels. Do not wear anything valuable, including jewelry.

First and foremost, we expect everyone to have fun at the farm while we accomplish our work together. Expect hands-on learning. You will get dirty and muddy; all while having a good time in the field or greenhouse. All farm work is done outdoors, rain or shine. Unexpected weather; dress in layers! Make friends while volunteering alongside like-minded community members Learn about hunger, food origination, agriculture and volunteer stewardship.
GROUP INFORMATION
For groups larger than six, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at least one week in advance of expected volunteer date. We welcome groups of all sizes and abilities.
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
We are currently not offering field trips to the farm. However, youth groups of up to 25 are encouraged to sign up for a day of service to learn about farming and food insecurity.
