STUDENT IMPACT

Y Achievers helps students stay in school, graduate and pursue post-secondary opportunities. Students are taught workplace skills and given the opportunity to participate in college tours and paid internship experiences. During the 2017-2018 school year, Y Achievers partnered with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to reach students at West Charlotte LIFT Academy, Harding High School, Hopewell High School and Rocky River High School. Using the University of Chicago's 6 to 16 curriculum, teachers and program staff introduce college and career readiness skills and lead activities that build self-efficacy. Y Achievers is a collaborative initiative to help increase the graduation rate in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. In 2018, 100% of Y Achievers seniors graduated.

SATURDAY SUMMITS Saturday Summits are led by business professional volunteers called Team Coaches. Volunteers help students develop career skills and etiquette through a variety of activities. Thank you to our 30 Team Coaches who volunteered their time to work with students each month during the 2017-2018 school year. Summit topics included career exploration, civic engagement and preparing for a job interview.

DID YOU KNOW? The YMCA of Greater Charlotte's Y Achievers program is ranked among the nation’s top 5 Y Achievers programs.

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
