Performance Arts

At the YMCA, kids have the chance to let their creative talents shine! They can explore aerial movements, learn how to dance, juggle, and even unicycle. Coaches and peers provide encouragement as children build strength, confidence, and coordination through tumbling, balancing, and other floor exercises. From jumps and cartwheels to handstands and beyond, the program equips children with the skill set needed to take their creativity to the next level!

Children ages 3 -17 will learn and grow with supportive coaches and classmates.

Baby Ballet

Ages 3 – 5

Dance participants will learn basic ballet positions with feet, port de bra (carriage of the arms) various jumps, and leaps while having fun. Class is structured like a studio program, and for that reason, parents are to observe outside of the classroom.

Ballet/Tap Combo

Ages 4 – 6

Dance participants will learn basic ballet positions with feet, port de bra (carriage of the arms) various jumps, and leaps while having fun. Dancers will also learn the basic rhythms of tap. Class is structured like a studio program, and for that reason, parents are to observe outside of the classroom.

Beginning Aerial Combo

Ages 6+

This class is perfect for the new aerialist. You will learn strength and coordination skills to improve your aerial awareness and learn basic tricks and moves on different aerial equipment. Equipment included will be on a rotating schedule. NO experience required.

Cheer I

Ages 5 – 8

Sitting on the sidelines during your siblings basketball game? We have the program for you! Participants will learn strength and flexibility through stretching, basic jumps, chants, cheers, and short dance routines to be performed during half time.

Cheer II

Ages 6 – 10

An entry-level class aimed at older children, Cheer II is designed to teach them important skills such as strength, flexibility, and coordination. Kids will also get the chance to learn simple chants, cheers, and dance routines. This is a great way for them to stay active and have some fun!

Gymnastics I

Ages 6+

This class teaches skills that lead to and are taught in Level 1 of Gymnastics. Participants will work on their strength and flexibility, while also learning basic tumbling and balance skills.

Gymnastics II

Ages 7+

This gymnastics class is suitable for students who have outgrown their beginner’s level. In a lively learning atmosphere, your child will develop their skills to a higher level. This class teaches self-control, improves physical strength, and helps them to feel more confident in themselves. The skills evaluation for Level Two gymnastics necessitates being able to perform forward rolls, backward rolls, backbends, and having a split on at least one side.

Hip Hop

Ages 6+

This course offers a great introduction to the essential movements of hip-hop. By taking this class, your child will learn fun and challenging choreography set to today’s popular hip-hop tunes. For an effective learning experience, our studio program is structured so that parents must remain outside the classroom during class.

Intermediate Dance Acro

Ages 6+

This program explores the advanced movements of tumbling, contortion, and dance. This class is designed for those with some experience, and thus it follows a more intensive structure like that of a studio program. For that reason, parents are requested to watch from outside the classroom.

Jazz

Ages 6+

Jazz is an expressive and free-flowing style of dance that brings together classic ballet and modern moves with elements from contemporary styles.

Kinder Gymnastics

Ages 3 – 5

Kinder Gymnastics teaches basic tumbling and balance skills to preschoolers. This class introduces skills like focusing, listening, and patience while in a fun learning environment.

Reggaetón

Ages 6 – 12

Reggaetón combines the vibrant rhythms of reggae music, the upbeat sounds of Latin American dance hall music and hiphop style, making it a fun and dynamic form of dance to learn.
