KIDS DESERVE A CHANCE TO GIV’ER We believe in accessibility and inclusiveness for all.

Leading up to race weekend, children and youth will engage in mentorship, leadership and team building activities with members of Team YMCA and will also participate in youth focused training programs to help prepare them for the big day.

•

Funds raised means that through the financial support provided by YMCA Strong Kids, our children will be able to attend summer camp, our families will be able to access affordable child care and our kids will be safe afterschool.

Funds raised by Team YMCA will provide financial support covering the cost of race registration for children and youth, who like you, are interested in participating in the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon but are unable to do so due to financial reasons.

Funds raised by Team YMCA will also support YMCA Strong Kids, a YMCA financial support program that ensures that all children can reach their full potential and that no one is turned away if their family is willing, yet unable, to afford the fee to participate in YMCA programs or services.

Run, walk or wheel with Team YMCA The Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon is a fully inclusive marathon for individuals of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. There are six running and walking categories, including a youth run, 5k run, 10k run, team relay, half marathon and full marathon. As part of the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon, the Scotiabank Charity Challenge offers the opportunity for thousands of runners and walkers to make their Blue Nose Marathon event more meaningful by raising funds for charities in our community.

This is your chance to run, walk or wheel in the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon with our team that is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of children and youth in our community.

Your marathon, your way with Team YMCA You don’t have to be an athlete to join. In fact, the majority of our team has never participated in a marathon before. Few on our team have ever fundraised before either.

But, we’ve got you covered on both fronts…

The funds you raise on Team YMCA not only give kids the chance to giv’er on race weekend, but give kids a chance to giv’er and reach their full potential year round through accessing YMCA programs and services.

On race weekend, children and youth will participate in the Youth Run and the 5K on Team YMCA through subsidized registrations paid for by the Y and made possible by your fundraising efforts.

Team swag bags including a YMCA t-shirt

Create a Race Roster username and password

•

Team spirit and camaraderie

Complete the ‘Registration Information’ form

Chances to win prizes available to Team YMCA members only

Under ‘Select Event for Participant 1’ choose the race which you would like to register in

Heartfelt gratitude knowing that by participating, you’ve also allowed children a chance to participate in YMCA programs, and on race weekend.

Under the ‘Additional Questions’ form answer the questions that include a red asterisks

A Post Race Mixer to celebrate your finish with complimentary food, refreshments, a soothing massage for all racers and the option of viewing your finishing time and race results on-site.

Choose if you would like to attend Pasta Village or if you would like to personalize your finisher medal (additional fee of $12)

A good old fashioned Blue Nose After Party at the World Trade and Convention Centre (WTCC).

Crossing the finish line and knowing that you’ve just provided an incredible experience and opportunities for kids in our community.

Click YES to confirm that you would like to participate in the Charity Challenge as a fundraiser

Choose “YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth” as your charity of choice in the drop down menu

Enter your free registration PIN Code if you are a Team YMCA Hero who has agreed to fundraise a minimum of $500 for Team YMCA. Contact Sarah if you would like to sign up as a Team YMCA Hero (see reverse for contact details). Skip this step if you do not have a PIN Code.

Select “Create a fundraising account via FrontStream”

•

Confirm your username and password for your personal fundraising page

•

Confirm your fundraising goal and make a donation to yourself to kick start your fundraising!

Review your order and enter your billing information

•

Finally, enter your payment information then click “submit”
