2019 Annual Report
YMCA OF GREATER OKLAHOMA CITY
DEAR FRIENDS, It has been an honor to serve as the Chairman of the Board for your YMCA this past year. While I have been involved with the Y for many years, this year gave me the opportunity to see things in a different way.
LETTER FROM CHAIRMAN
We were awarded the Maps 3 Health & Wellness Center project and worked with INTEGRIS Health and the City of Oklahoma City to identify a location with plans to begin construction in 2021. This year also gave us time to spruce up and even remodel some of our branches. We took apart and re-structured our Edward L. Gaylord Downtown YMCA fitness center to opening it up, making it brighter and adding new functional training equipment. Other branches received new coats of paint, new lighting and new equipment.
02
This year has been rewarding and I look forward to what the future will bring. We will continue to work toward the goals laid out in our strategic plan to reach further into our community and provide a safe place for all. If you haven’t visited a Y recently, I encourage you to come by and try one of our many classes, bring the kids and splash around in the pool or simply shoot some hoops. We look forward to seeing you soon. Sincerely, David Houston Chairman of the Board of Directors

FEEDING PROGRAM
It became even more clear to me the number of ways the Y serves our communities beyond our health and fitness facilities. Volunteers identified and helped meet critical needs through ÂŽ Togetherhood projects throughout the year, staffed the YMCA Military Welcome Center where they greeted traveling military personnel and helped prepare young recruits for basic training and provided gifts for children to help make their Christmas a little brighter. We also helped feed children and families in Oklahoma City Housing Authority neighborhoods and provided activities for kids after school.

DOWNTOWN FITNESS CENTER RENOVATION

MAPS 3 HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER We received great news this year when we were named, along with our partner INTEGRIS Medical Group, as Oklahoma City’s operating partners for the southwest-side MAPS 3 Health & Wellness Center. The site will be located off Western Ave. south of SW 134th St. Additionally, we look forward to our continued partnership with Langston University on the development and operation of the NE Health & Wellness Center.

DOWNTOWN FITNESS CENTER RENOVATION
With fitness trends changing, and safety being a priority for us, we took the plunge and renovated our Edward L. Gaylord Downtown YMCA Fitness Center. We opened up the space by rotating the equipment to fit the space horizontally, removing the hanging television stand and steel barriers to the hallway, adding space for functional training and adding equipment that is scientifically proven to be safer for our members. The transformation has allowed us to better serve our members and offer additional classes and equipment.
15
STRATEGIC PLAN Our vision to be the catalyst to improve the quality of life for all in the communities we serve started with the implementation of our three-year strategic plan. We laid out a plan that allows us to continue to evolve with our communities and guide us as opportunities arise. Through the course of the year, we increased youth participation in programs, integrated our five pillars curriculum into all teen programming, implemented a mobile outdoor education program, expanded our programs into new communities and had more than 1,000 community members participate in our member-led Togetherhood volunteer program. We are the only facility in Oklahoma to have the eGym equipment. This new strength circuit was integrated into the North Side YMCA fitness center to offer a low impact, high results work out for all fitness levels. The eGym equipment offers rep-by-rep guidance and automatically syncs with an app to track your progress and results. Additionally, the equipment works with a personalized identification band, so each machine automatically adjusts to fit your body and strength level.

WHAT MEMBERS ARE SAYING “I am very grateful for all the opportunities that are offered at the Y. Thankful for making it affordable for me and my family. The staff is always helpful, smiles on their faces and their attitudes give you peace of mind.” “I have never felt more energized and inspired to be a part of something.” “My kiddos love Child Watch. We make a family deal where me and my husband workout for an hour, then we check the kids out of Child Watch and go swimming. They are always begging me to come to the YMCA. Thanks for making it a great place for families.” “I am thankful to have a Y in this community. I benefit tremendously from the exercise classes.” “I just simply enjoy the overall experience of being a member and have met some of the best people in the world at the Y. I wouldn’t trade it for anything!”
