YOUNG SCOT Young Scot is the national youth information and citizenship charity for Scotland. We work in partnership with young people, between the ages of 11 and 26, giving them access to information, ideas and opportunities to help support them make informed decisions and become confident, active citizens. PATHWAYS TO MUSIC OUTREACH OFFICER Fixed Term: July 2012 to December 2012 Salary: ÂŁ16,500 per annum (pro rata) The Role Pathways To Music is a project run by Young Scot and supported by Creative Scotland, which aims to inspire as many young people as possible to get involved in making music. It particularly looks to target those hardest-to-reach, using a mix of outreach street work and workshops to give young people opportunities to participate in high-quality, youth engagement experiences around independent musicmaking. It will give young people the chance to increase their skills, helping to create pathways to further opportunities and careers. As part of the project Young Scot would like to recruit an individual for six months to support the delivery of the outreach and workshop elements of the project. This is an amazing and exciting opportunity to be involved in the delivery of high-quality creative opportunities for young people. Your Profile Those applying should have previous experience of engaging young people in music, perhaps in a youth work capacity. You will be a creative thinker, able to come up with inspiring, imaginative and participatory ways of engaging all young people. You will have knowledge of existing youth music provision in Scotland, with a good grasp of pathways and careers options within the music industry. You will also have a good grasp of monitoring and evaluation processes and understand how to integrate these in to a project plan. The post will mean extensive travelling across Scotland. A driving license is essential, ideally with with B1 Classification.
