The Match Report Welsh League Div 2 - Saturday 9th November 2019
Pontyclun FC 5 – 0 Ynyshir Albions FC The Buns suffer heavy defeat on the road On a showcase afternoon for the home side when they opened their new 100 seater stand the league leaders certainly looked the part and every bit of a club ready for the next level. The 1st half was tight for the majority, Ynyshir started very well creating the better half chances but with little more than 20 minutes gone one mistake were clinically punished and it would be the story for majority of them game. Ynyshir's success past 4 years has been built largely on its defence but this season we've struggled for any consistent back 4 and centre half partnership and its shown, a messy 2nd goal conceded on the half hour further proof of that. Last quarter Ynyshir would finish the half as they started, Huw McGregor forced a good save from the home goalkeeper and some superb last ditch defending denied McGregor again whilst he looked clean through. Ynyshir made two changes HT and spent large majority of the opening 25 minutes of the half on the front foot. Jacob Isaacs, Scott Jones and Leon Anstee at the forefront of any good work but Pontyclun continued to defend so well. McGregor again came closest for Ynyshir bringing another good save from the home keeper and Liam Eason failed to get good connection on a good chance shot wide.
The Match Report Welsh League Div 2 - Saturday 9th November 2019
Pontyclun FC 5 – 0 Ynyshir Albions FC The Buns suffer heavy defeat on the road But as a sign of a top side Pontyclun never looked in any sort of distress, absorbed all Ynyshir threw at them and hit the killer 3rd goal with their 1st 2nd half chance. Ynyshir again more than played their part in the goal but credit to Pontyclun’s quick break, moving of the ball and finish with a lovely left foot strike from their talisman who was again superb as he was in the teams cup tie 6 weeks ago. A quick fire penalty made it 4-0 as the home side started to enjoy themselves and again after a little Ynyshir late spell they attacked, looked so assured in the final 3rd, picked the right passes, correct decisions and finished superbly. A harsh lesson for our club but fair play to Pontyclun who in their 3rd season in this division since their Alliance Premier promotion look ready to win it and move on to bigger things. Life in the Welsh League has been very stop start so far this season couple of defeats, cup games and matches postponed but no time to feel hard done by, we continue to work and try have a good run at this division and hopefully establish ourselves at this level. That starts next Saturday at home v Panteg 2pm. #COTB
