CLUB NEWS Thanks for the memories Craig Wells Following a cracking win, superb battle and performance to take our 1st away Welsh League 3 points away to Abertillery Bluebirds on Saturday 14th December the announcement was made after the game that it was to be gaffer Craig Wells’ last day in charge of the club along with his assistant Daniel Lever. The decision was made some weeks ago before our victory at home v Treharris but credit and thank you to Craig who would not make a sudden exit leaving the club without a manager and desperate for a replacement. Massive respect to both Craig and Dan who gave everything in training, on match day and beyond right up until last Saturday’s final whistle. Although saddened and initially surprised by the decision, as a club we fully understand Craig’s reasons to step down, support his decision and are thrilled he will remain on the club committee. Craig always said he would only step down leaving a strong squad of players and knowing someone capable was ready to take over. He’s kept his word and this great group of players with potential to further itself in the Welsh League will now be taken over by ‘Hoppy’ Craig Hopkins who we now welcome and announce as our new 1st team manager. Hoppy again an ex player of ours who understands the club and who most notably was our youth team manager last season guiding them undefeated to the South Wales Youth league title. He has the full backing of he club committee and we now look forward to him getting started with the players taking us into 2020. Again big thank you to Wellsy and Lever!

CLUB NEWS Thanks for the memories Craig Wells Ynyshir boy born and bred who signed for the club at 17. An Albion to the core who was a major part of the clubs most successful years in the early 2000s with only promotion to the Welsh League not being achieved. Playing Honours: South Wales Senior League 1 Champion South Wales Senior League 2 Champion CW Bruty Cup Winner FA Senior Cup Winner South Wales Player of the Year 2003. After a decade of Welsh League football elsewhere Craig was appointed the clubs player manager in summer 2015 and still had the burning desire he had back in 2001 to take his hometown club to the Welsh Football League. 2015/16 - South Wales Alliance 2 Champions 2016/17 - South Wales Alliance 1 Runners Up, W. John Owen Cup Runners Up 2017/18 - South Wales Alliance Premier Runners Up 2018/19 - South Wales Alliance Premier Champions 2019/20 - Leads the club into the Welsh Football League Milestones 200+ Playing Appearances 100+ Goals Scored 150+ Games Managed 100+ Manager Victories Games Managed 152 Wins 109 Drawn 18 Lost 25 Win Percentage 71.7% Thank you for making this club great again! In many people’s opinion ‘The Greatest Ynyshir Albion of all time’ Gaffer Leader Legend!!!

CLUB NEWS Welcome Back Hoppy Following Craig Wells’ decision to step down as manager, Ynyshir Albions are proud to announce the appointment of Craig ‘Hoppy’ Hopkins.

Hoppy again an ex player of ours who understands the club and who most notably was our youth team manager last season guiding them undefeated to the South Wales Youth league title. He has the full backing of he club committee and we now look forward to him getting started with the players taking us into 2020. Hoppy took charge of his first game last week away to Albion Rovers and made a great start with a convincing 3-0 win.

Today’s Visitors Tredegar Town AFC Tredegar Town AFC was formed over 40 years ago in 1968 by its present life president Cliff Bethel to provide a recreation for those young men who preferred playing association football to Rugby Union, the team was originally known as the Rhyd Boys Club and was known throughout Wales for sending players to represent Wales at school boy and Boys Club of Wales level. In 1983 the team changed to Tredegar Town AFC and moved on to senior level football initially plying their trade in the North Gwent Division One League rising to a Premier Division place in the 1980s. With the introduction of the Welsh League Pyramid of non-league clubs Tredegar gained a place in the Gwent County FA League and played their games at the Recreation Ground. The team rose from Division 3 to Division 2 then to the top division, then in season 1997–98 they won the Gwent County League and applied to the Welsh League for membership and joined the Welsh Football League in season 1998–99. After one season they finished runners up in the league and gained promotion to Welsh Football League Division Two in 2000–01 and remained in this division until they were relegated at the end of the 2009–10 season. In August 2004 Tredegar moved from the Recreation Ground to a purpose built ground at Tredegar Leisure Centre. Lights were added with the help of funding from the Welsh League and the local council. 1982/83 - winners gwent amateur cup 1984/85 - runners-up gwent county youth cup 1987/88 - winners gwent county youth cup 1996/97 - winners gwent county motors cup 1997/98 - winners gwent county league 1998/99 - promoted to welsh league division 3 1999/00 - promoted to welsh league division 2 2000/01 - runners up gwent county cup

The Match Report Welsh League Div 2 - Saturday 4th January 2020

Albion Rovers 0 – 3 Ynyshir Albions FC The Buns make winning start to 2020 Winning start to new year against a struggling but battling Albion Rovers side. We traveled light on numbers ourselves but got straight to work and once it was clear very early we would be seeing so much of the ball it were all about patience and moving the ball well to create space and chances. Liam Eason was Ynyshir's driving force in the 1st half seeing his shot well saved early on and he was involved soon after playing in Cory Morgan who cut back to Scott Jones whose shot was well saved only for Huw McGregor to head home from close range 1-0. Eason and Morgan combined again to make it 2-0, a very nice strike and finish from Morgan getting on the end of Eason's through ball. The home side struggled and were limited to one headed chance and just before HT McGregor got his 2nd with a well taken finish after great play again from his fellow winger Cory Morgan 3-0. Decent chances had also gone a miss through Eason and Jamie Williams but it were a very good Ynyshir 45 minutes on, to put it mildly, an appalling playing surface Early in the 2nd half the home side were reduced to 10 men through two bookable offences and whilst the floodgates could of easily opened credit to the home side for their battling performance with us more than contributing to their 2nd half clean sheet. All around the park one and two touches was turning into four or five and short passes were turning into attempted killer passes instead of sticking to the work that brought us so much success in the 1st half. Kai Meades tried to drive us on 2nd half and though the struggles we still created by the plenty, most of which were put over the Rovers bar and the home keeper did save his team well from Zack Philpott and Cory Morgan efforts. Flat end to the game but happy to get back playing and to win 3 away points to begin 2020 for Craig Hopkins and his men. Big thank you to all those who travelled to Newport in support See you all next weekend as we host Tredegar Town on the Oval 2pm #COTB
