Cefn Cribw BC 5 – 2 Ynyshir Albions AFC
A game that needs to be quickly forgotten, an excellent, evenly contested game for 60 minutes which to say the very least was spoilt and all about one person from there. Ceirion Mason got Ynyshir off to a flyer within a minute for 1-0 but credit to Cefn Cribwr who responded instantly forcing Alex Rees to turn the ball into his own net for 1-1. Cefn then went on to be the much better side for half hour and looked the most impressive side against us so far this season. But despite that, little was created of note and it was Ynyshir who finished the half strongest and should of led at HT. A Joe Eason strike flew just wide of the top corner and Craig Wells hit the side netting once squared by Mason after getting in behind. 1-1 HT and it was Ynyshir who picked up where they left off early in the 2nd. Scott Jones had two drives well saved by the home goalkeeper as Ynyshir turned up the heat. Cefn again had their keeper to thank for a cracking double save with massive appeals that the 2nd was scooped from behind the line. Goal ruled out. Cefn rode out the storm and from nowhere took the lead for 2-1 from 20 yards into the bottom corner. Ynyshir needed to respond. Cefn were in the ascendancy and the game changer came on 65 minutes when Alex Rees out muscled by the attacker whilst heading back to the keeper, only for the referee to award a penalty with not an appeal in the ground, 3-1. Plenty more went on from there but the least said the better. Red cards for both sides and a few very well taken goals from Cefn Cribwr who took full advantage of Ynyshir's demise through their own frustrations.
A Liam Eason consolation goal was little to celebrate late on so we need to regroup and quickly get over today with plenty big challenges ahead. No game next weekend with us hosting Pontlottyn next on Saturday 20th October. #COTB
