Todays Match Day Sponsor It’s truly humbling to see but once again its members of the local community who have shown their support to the club, this week we would like to say a massive thank you to ‘Marc Jones & Dai Brown’ who have kindly sponsored todays game.

Both have followed the buns home & away for many years and are also no strangers on a buns ‘Jolly Boys Outing’. From all the players, management and committee we really do appreciate it.

Look Back at Previous Meetings Buns Vs Drac’s It’s safe to say that since the very first encounter back in the Alliance League Two through to present day there isn’t much love loss between the two clubs. A little over 15 miles separates the ‘Oval & Lydstep Park’ which to some might not class as a local derby but one thing for certain it has all hype and previous meetings justify it. Both clubs have risen through the leagues and achieved notable successes so let’s take a trip down memory lane to see how previous fixtures have faired; 2015/16 South Wales Alliance Two Cardiff Dracs 2-2 Ynyshir Albions Ynyshir Albions 1-5 Cardiff Dracs

Trip down Memory Lane On this Weekend 2 Years Ago Ynysygerwn 0-2 Ynyshir Albions One of our best results in our maiden Welsh League football season. Club legend Sean Jones opened the scoring early in this Friday night fixture, before we spent majority of the game under pressure against the league leaders. We defended superbly and Leon Anstee sealed 3 points late on the break. 3 Years Ago Cardiff Draconians 1-1 Ynyshir Albions Two title challengers went at it in a feisty South Wales Alliance Premier fixture. Dracs really needed the victory to put big pressure on ourselves and they looked on their way to doing just that until player manager Craig Wells brilliant late header sealed one of our most important points of our title winning season. 6 Years Ago Ynyshir Albions 3-1 Canton Liberal Carol Fry

Much anticipated W. John Owen Cup tie between the then Alliance 2 leaders v Alliance 1 leaders (both would go on to be champions) All the talk before hand was rightly about the Canton striker Chris Quick who was turning out ridiculous scoring figures but the star of the game was a striker of our own Craig Guppy Hughes rolling back the years with a 1st half hattrick on the way to a brilliant cup victory.

Club History The Exclusive 100 Club THE KING As mentioned earlier in the season there is a prestigious group of buns who've scored a hundred or more goals for the club we've already spoken with one Damian Roberts. Now it's time for another this week we caught up with the club's all time leading scorer none other than ‘The King’ Ceirion Mason. Who have you enjoyed playing with the most during your time at the club? There’s been so many to be fair but I’ll go Sean Jones because he’s been there from day one, through all the ups and downs, and there’s been plenty of F**king downs! Are there any goals that personally stand out for you? I think getting my last goal for the club on the Oval which meant that I had one in every league we’ve competed in was a great way to finish for me. Which has been harder playing or beingCarol an Fry integral part of the club's committee?

Playing is the easy part! There’s definitely a lot of challenges that the committee face to keep driving the club forward, but it’s something that I'm loving being a part of. Nothing compares to putting on that shirt and playing for the badge but it’s a good substitute that keeps me involved in the club and it’s rewarding in other ways.

Club History The Exclusive 100 Club

Who would be in your buns all time 11? I’m not going to go there because I’ll upset a few people, I could quite easily pick two starting 11’s that would be just as good as each other. If you could come back for one game and get a hat trick to reach 150 goals in front of the new stand is there a specific team you’d want to do it against? Don’t rub it as I’ll need four goals because I’m on 146! Probably be a big cup game against a Tier 1 or 2 team or derby game. We never won a cup in my time at the buns so it’s long overdue but for me nothing beats scoring on The Oval, its Special place that has brought me so many good memories both on and off the field. Finally from everyone at the club past & present we just wanted to take a moment not only to congratulate Mason for his on field achievements over the years but most recently these past 2-3 years. His desire and commitment to Carol Fry make sure the club secured Tier 3 Welsh league status was nothing short of a miracle, many others would of given up hope years ago. What must have been hundreds of hours of emails, phone calls, meetings at the Oval we are forever grateful for not making yours but so many others dream become a reality. No pressure but next task for you king is the Community Hub #COTB

To help you get to know the players & committee throughout the season, this week we managed to catch up with one of the most in-form strikers in European football not just the Ardal leagues. His new years resolution was to be more positive, don’t think we are too bothered if he sticks to that as along as he continues to replicate his form as we enter the second half of the season. Name / Age – Liam Eason (23) Position – Midfielder / Forward Favourite Buns Memory – Got to be the Cefn Cribwr game, Murf running down the touchline, knew it was on after that! Most Intelligent at the Club – Very tough that, got to be Alex Rees he's a mental character fair play Future Buns Hall of Famer – Kailum Williams Least Intelligent – The two D’s aka Drew or Dre both thick ASF Worse Memory in a Buns Shirt – Pre-Season this year, post COVID break it was not going to plan Best Player you’ve played with – Cory / Joe / Rewbs too close Worse Dress Sense – Ooofffttt Zacky P has some mental socks & clobber to match Longest in the Shower – Anstee Hard Man – Zacky P Best Trainer – Joe Eason Carol Fry The Joker – C.Hughes aka Guppy Worse Trainer – There's a few and I’ve told them…Crutchy, Carn, Jacob, Mr Rewbury the main one we had a chat about it Best Tekkers – Joe Eason when we haven’t been running to the North Pole & back before a game, can hand out hotdogs like sweets in the changing room before a game

Club News Sponsorships Renewed Whilst the players and management continue to focus on match day preparation, the buns committee are working tirelessly behind the scenes to continue to push the club forward off the field. We are delighted to announce that the following businesses have decided to renew their sponsorship deals with the club.

Carol Fry

Our design team are working hard to make sure that both new & existing boards are ready to be advertised at the Oval, it’s a message that we’ve shared numerous times but as a club we are truly grateful for this support. Without it not just now but in years gone by we simply would not be able to operate as a club and we’d like to think those dark days are over and the buns are now making what was a dream to so many become a reality.
