An integral part to the buns success these past few seasons is without doubt down to their loyal fan base who have travelled week in week out to support the boys.

After successfully coming through our opening fixtures of the in the league league, JD Welsh Cup & FAW Amateur Trophy , we caught up with two regulars in Dean “Ned” Andrews & Matthew Williams to get their reaction and opinions on how the buns have started the campaign, first up Ned. Going into these games what did you feel would be a realistic set of results? Going into the first few games I would have settled for a couple of nice wins maybe the odd draw, so far the buns have been very impressive. Given the year out due to Covid did you have any worries going into the season? Not so much a worry but knowing a lot of teams in the new Ardal league have had quite a number of years playing football at a higher level did concern me. What has impressed you the most about the performances so far? Most impressive thing about the buns so far is their fitness around the park, even when they loose the ball the work rate to win it back is outstanding. Who has stood out individually for you? There have been numerous good performances so far but the guy who stands out for me is Carn Thomas, seeing a new signing for the buns he has fitted in beautifully, looks calm and confident under pressure let's hope it continues. Out of the of the goals scored in these round of competitive fixtures who has been your stand out? Carol Fry

Out of the goals so far Drew Caple's free kick against West end impressed me, beautifully struck free kick from a fair distance out Do you think the buns can come out on top of the 3 team Rhondda mini league within the league with Porth & Ton Pentre? I think the buns will do quite well against the 2 other Rhondda valley sides in the league, buns have a good core of guys who enjoy their football and playing for the buns, not just looking after their arse pockets like other clubs

After successfully coming through our opening fixtures of the in the league league, JD Welsh Cup & FAW Amateur Trophy , we caught up with two regulars in Dean “Ned” Andrews & Matthew Williams to get their reaction and opinions on how the buns have started the campaign, next up the thoughts of Matthew. Going into these games what did you feel would be a realistic set of results? I was hoping we would get into the Welsh Cup by winning the qualifying games and win our first home game back at the oval since the ground improvements Given the year out due to Covid did you have any worries going into the season? Obviously there was a worry of another lockdown stopping all grassroots sports again but since the vaccinations started to be rolled out I’ve been pretty optimistic that we would get some football this season What has impressed you the most about the performances so far? What’s impressed me so far and for the last few years really is the way the core of the squad seems to step up regardless of being in higher divisions Who has stood out individually for you? It’s been a collective effort so far but if I had to pick somebody it would be Scotty in the middle of the park, he’s a throwback central midfield who can do a bit of everything, superb start to the season. Out of the of the goals scored in these round of competitive fixtures who has been your stand out? Carol Fry

I’d have to say Scotty’s opener away to Penrhiwceiber, absolute rocket from outside the area Do you think the buns can come out on top of the 3 team Rhondda mini league within the league with Porth & Ton Pentre? 100% they can and I think they will, love watching the local derbies adds something extra to the game!

Club History – The 100

Following on from the last match day programme where we shared the history / progression of the stand at the Oval this week we take a look back at a very special group of players who have scored 100+ goals for the club during their careers. What comes to mind when you hear the 100 club? Maybe it's iconic London music venue on Oxford Street that played host to Louis Armstrong, the rolling stones, the who and a host of iconic punk bands in the late 70s. Maybe it's the players who impressively rack up a hundred international appearances for their respective countries. Ajax have vak 100 (translated means box 100) for players who reach a 100 or more appearances for the famed talent producing club. With all this being said how many of you are aware of the buns 100 club? Though referred to as the 100 club it could easily be known as the famous five as at present there are only 5 players who have managed it.

Many of you at this point might be thinking plenty of boys have played a hundred plus games and your right to think so but only 5 have surpassed 100 goals for the buns. • • • • •

Carol Fry

An impressive achievement at any level of the game scoring a 100 goals for a single club achieved by some stand out figures in the clubs history from the current chairman to the player manager who guided the club to Welsh league level and a cup final goalscoring hero.

Club History – The 100

With Cei Mason being the clubs highest scorer with 146 goals an impressive figure by anyone's standards. Over the course of the . season were going to be catching up with each of these players starting with the cup final hero Damian Roberts. Who did you enjoy playing with the most during your time with the buns? Got to be beaky as a centre midfielder What team did you look forward to playing against most? There's a few I loved Sully, Fochriw, Fairwater but Penrhiwfer 100% made it more special as it was a derby What defeat was the hardest to take? No defeat stands out hated losing full stop After the near misses the club had how good does it feel to see them finally make it to Welsh level? Seeing Ynyshir in welsh league is like a dream come true after playing and coming close so many times. The work which has gone in even when the stand was first built to now. Especially now what they’ve achieved behind the scene, is truly unbelievable. Everyone involved deserves a massive shout out. Shows what a special club it is. What was your most memorable match? Carolgoal Fry Penrhiwfer final Pentre park we one 1-0 scored the Sean Jones named you in his all time buns 11 since he's been at the club what would be your buns 11? 1. Pritchard 2. Barney 3. Nathan Applin 4. Lever 5. Philpott 6. Beaky 7. Byron white 8. Craig Thomas 9. Guppy 10. Wellsy 11. Gavin fry 12. Ted he’s going to be tamping with me. Obviously I can’t pick myself

Ynyshir Albions FC Match Report

FAW Amateur Trophy Round 3 Cardiff Draconians 0-3 Ynyshir Albions

Closely fought and absorbing cup tie but as emotions ran high it were Ynyshir who put the better work together in the final 3rd and deservedly booked their place in the 4th round. Whilst respect between the clubs both have enjoyed rivalry alongside one and other up the pyramid in past few years. The Drac's started strong and were well on top 1st 10 minutes as Ynyshir struggled to settle. Their captain Liam Willo Williams free kick hit the outside of Dale Pritchards post as they looked threatening. A tough opening for the away side was heightened when young Steve Vaughan got injured in a hard challenge, with Hoppy forced to look at his bench opting for Jamie Rewbury pulled from a two year layoff. Leon Anstee who as always was a force up top created two decent openings, but fired straight at the keeper as Ynyshir started to pick up. A massive chance then came and went with a great bit of play releasing Jamie Price down the right who superbly squared for Liam Eason who uncharacteristically put over the cross bar. Ynyshir started winning the battles all over the park led by stand in captain Jacob Isaacs who led superbly from the front.

Ynyshir Albions FC Match Report

Tensions were to rise and tempers flared as Ynyshir felt they were turned down a clear penalty in a passage of play the ball looked to have gone for a Drac's throw not given by the Ynyshir lineman. The home side then looked to be getting a decent spell together again but it were Ynyshir who struck. Started by Mark Crutch from the back into Liam Eason who played a great through ball to Huw McGregor who finished at the 2nd attempt for 1-0. Crutch so nearly immediately made it two heading over from a corner but it would finish 0-1 for HT. The Drac's dressing room were very lively at the interval with the hair dryer coming out and possibly a few boots flying about and they came out the better taking advantage of Ynyshir's slow start. The Ynyshir back 3 of Crutch, Carn Thomas and Alex Rees were all excellent yet again and it were Carn Thomas who made two or three goal saving tackles in the Drac's best spell of the game. At the other end Ynyshir always looked dangerous countering, with willing runners and cracking fitness levels.

Ynyshir Albions FC Match Report

Leon Anstee twisted and turned the Drac's back line and was so unlucky firing across the face of goal just wide of the post. Chances were there for Ynyshir if they could just pick the right option in the final third and they soon did on the hour when the superb Liam Eason took the ball, turned and played big brother Joe through who made no mistake finishing for 0-2 sparking big celebration from the away support. Huw McGregor was the next played through after good work from Cei Mason and Liam Eason yet again but his effort was well saved by ex Buns goalkeeper Dan Hurton. Drac's rallied late trying to save the tie but one decent save from Dale Pritchard and a header flashed just wide of the post would be as close as they would come. Breaks were on still for Ynyshir and they'd again get one right in the final minutes when Sean Jones switched play and Jamie Price who must of put 10 miles in up and down the right hand side broke crossing for Liam Eason who deftly flicked past Hurton for 0-3. Shout out to our makeshift bench today, over 100 years of age (sorry boys 😂) and 700 appearances between the 3 club legends that took to the pitch Jamie Rewbs, Cei Mason, Sean Jones 👏 Best wishes to Cardiff Drac's moving forward, tough game and good crack afterwards at the club. We next turn our attention to Garden Village at home Tuesday night
