Todays Match Day Sponsor This week we would like to say a massive thank you to ‘Darryl Price’ of ‘Darryl’s Minibuses’ who has kindly sponsored todays cup quarter final fixture against Monmouth Town. Darryl has been a loyal sponsor and follower of the buns for many years now and we are really pleased he’s continued to support the club again this season. From all the players, management and committee we really do appreciate the support of local businesses, without it quite simply this club would not have survived all these years.
Carol Fry
Road to the Quarter Finals
Given that this is the buns 30th year as a club, it’s the furthest they have ever progressed in this historic competition. We thought we would take a look back at the opening five rounds ahead of todays fixture against a strong Monmouth side, who will no doubt like the buns be wanting to go all the way and lift the trophy after getting this far. To date its seen the buns and their loyal supporters travel over 124 miles across South & Mid-Wales, scoring 16 goals and only conceding an impressive 3 against.

R2 R1&4 R3
The previous meeting against Monmouth a few seasons ago was a superbly fought fixture, the home side have trained hard but know they have to be at their very best today, if they want to get into the semi final draw.
Road to the Quarter Finals Round One Ynyshir Albion's 7-2 Blaenrhondda It was the second meeting of the team sides in just under a week after facing each other in the qualifying round of the JD Welsh Cup, the buns ran out comfortable winners at the Oval. Goals – Cory, Liam x2, Anstee, Joey, Huw, Carn MOM – Cory Morgan Round Two Merthyr Saints 0 -2 Ynyshir Albion’s On a different day it would have been the Alliance Premier side progressing but it was a case of missed opportunities from the home side and a great defensive display that saw the buns progress to the next round. Goals – Scott, Anstee MOM – Mark Crutch
Round Three Cardiff Draconians 0 -3 Ynyshir Albion’s Carol Fry No love loss between this two sides over the years as they have both risen through the Alliance leagues, it was however the buns that dominated from the off, an all round superb team display from the opening minute saw the buns comfortably advance to the next round. Goals – Huw, Joey, Liam MOM – Liam Eason
Road to the Quarter Finals
Round Four Ynyshir Albion’s 2-0 Cwmaman Another tough fixture credit to the away side who battled for everything throughout the 90 minutes, it was the buns that took their chances to set up a mothering fifth round tie. Goals – Scott, Liam MOM – Mark Crutch
Round Five Caersws FC 1 -2 Ynyshir Albion’s As the gaffer would say a proper backs against the wall fixture, the buns should have been out of sight first half but failed to make their dominance pay. Two goals from the Eason brothers saw them take the lead only for the home side to pull one back and despite ‘Fergie’ time being played the buns held on, we even saw Jacob hit top speed down the flank which he gave an interview post match to the local radio station. Goals – Liam, Joey MOM – Jacob Issacs Carol Fry
To help you get to know the players & committee throughout the season, this week we managed to secure some time with retired buns goalkeeper now club committee man and match day cameraman…Mr Lee Scott.
Name / Age – Lee Scott (Unknown looks 45+) Position At Club – Retired Goalkeeper now Cameraman Favourite Buns Memory – Beating Penrhiwfer on the Oval to win the league, even sweeter with the clean sheet Most Intelligent at the Club – SJ acts thick at times, but there’s a brain in there somewhere (2+2 is 4 minus 1 is 3 quick maths) Future Buns Hall of Famer – Cory Morgan Least Intelligent – There’s too many to be fair Worse Memory in a Buns Shirt – Few seasons back fighting with 12/13 players each week Worse Dress Sense – The King Mason, loves a jacket Hard Man – Anstee like a human running brick The Joker – World’s busiest man ‘Guppy’ always up to something Best Tekkers – Scott Jones loves a 50/50 Carol Fry Players Who’s Most Impressed You This Season – Got to the man Liam Eason, the guy can’t stop scoring, like Alan Shearer in this prime
A view From Our Fans
This week we took some time out to get a view from our loyal supporters on their perspective of the season so far and their expectations as we enter the business end of the season…first up we spoke with James Oliver who’s no stranger to a match day or club away day.
What do you think this group of players can achieve this season? Everything is still up for grabs and teams must be seeing us as the team to beat. If we can keep our discipline, there’s no reason why we can’t go up or even win this league. We’ve shown already that we have the players, the Oval is a tough place for teams to come and on our day we can take any team in this league. We’ve on for the treble anyway !!! Who’s been your stand out player this season? Carol Fry
Tough to pick, all the boys have properly stepped it up this season, think I’d have to go with Liam Eason though.
A view From Our Fans
What have you most enjoyed about the buns this season? It’s been great seeing the club evolve this season, with everything that’s gone on off the pitch, it’s brilliant to see its carry onto the field. Big followings both home & away and the trip to Aberaeron was a cracker, even if the locals hated our guts. Did you expect the buns to be in this position after the re-structure of the leagues?
Was a bit unsure how it would go, more to do with how big the step up in quality would be at the top end of the table. But every time we've gone up, the players have accepted the challenge and given it everything. After the first game away to Penrhiwceiber, it was clear to see we’d be able to mix it with anyone. Carol Fry

Club News Sponsorships Renewed Whilst the players and management continue to focus on match day preparation, the buns committee are working tirelessly behind the scenes to continue to push the club forward off the field. We are delighted to announce that the following businesses have decided to renew their sponsorship deals with the club.
Carol Fry
Our design team are working hard to make sure that both new & existing boards are ready to be advertised at the Oval, it’s a message that we’ve shared numerous times but as a club we are truly grateful for this support. Without it not just now but in years gone by we simply would not be able to operate as a club and we’d like to think those dark days are over and the buns are now making what was a dream to so many become a reality.
Ynyshir Albions FC 30th Year Celebrations An Evening with Bruce Grobbelaar
We are devastated that we’ve had to cancel the event at such short notice, this was out of the clubs control and was due to engagements needing to be fulfilled by Bruce on match day for Liverpool next weekend. Please bare with us over the next few days we will be contacting everyone that has purchased a ticket to refund you the £35. We will be looking to run another club event in the coming months ahead which we hope you will be able to join us in helping to celebrate the 30th year anniversary. Carol Fry
We are yet again as a club overwhelmed by the generosity shown by our supporters, members of the local community, local businesses and Sport Wales who have kindly donated to our Crowdfunding campaign. We will be in touch shortly with people who selected one of the reward packages and please stay tuned to our social media pages as we’ll share progress of the work being undertaken to improve the facilities we are able to offer on match days.
