Todays Match Day Sponsor It’s truly humbling to see but once again its members of the local community who have shown their support to the club, this week we would like to say a massive thank you to Gary & Angela Jones who have kindly sponsored todays game. Parents to club captain and future buns hall of famer Sean Jones they’ve spent countless hours over the years and continue to do so heading down to the Oval on match day to support the club. From all the players, management and committee we really do appreciate it.

Club History / Achievements

Carol Fry

The Fach has caught up with the Fawr

As the we enter a new year its another huge milestone for the buns as it’s the 30th year since their formation, as we welcome today's visitors Ton Pentre to the Oval, in which we host a league fixture that over the last few decades was unthinkable to so many across the football community. Why unthinkable; well back in 1992 the ‘Bulldogs’ were invited to be a founding member of the league of Wales now the Cymru Premier. They declined this invite and opted to win promotion to the top flight which they achieved the following year. Successful seasons in the mid 90s provided a pathway into Europe in the now dissolved Intertoto Cup losing 7-0 to Dutch Eredivisie side Heerenveen. On the score sheet for the Dutch side that night was a young Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson who would go on to win the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, Serie A & Champions league with AC Milan as well as scoring a staggering 52 international goals for Denmark. All of this on top of the bulldogs 1986 FA Carolcup Fry run that saw them lose 4-1 to Cardiff city in the first round proper. The prospect of little old Ynyshir Albions making a trip to Ynys park for anything other than a cup tie or a pre-season friendly seemed out of the realms of what was achievable.

The Fach has caught up with the Fawr

However as we’ve seen over the years football has a funny old way of making the impossible become possible, fast forward nearly three decades later and both clubs fortunes have changed, Ton Pentre no longer hold the title of the Rhondda's premier football club that title undoubtedly now sits with Cambrian & Clydach who are currently setting the standard on and off the field. It’s a Rhondda Fach vs Rhondda Fawr derby, a win for the buns will be another huge milestone and testament in how far the club has come on and off the field especially over the last few seasons. For the bulldogs it’s a great a chance to build on past glory's but the main goal for both teams come 2:30pm Saturday is securing the three points on offer, as both clubs set about achieving their own personal goals as we head into the final few games of the season.

Trip down Memory Lane

On this Weekend 3 Years Ago.. South Wales Alliance Premier - Garw SBGC 1-2 Ynyshir Albions Massive result in our Alliance Premier title running edging the Garw in a tough midweek battle. With 18 year old winger Cory Morgan the match winner with a brilliant double. 5 Years Ago.. South Wales Alliance One - Ynyshir Albions 1-0 Tonyrefail BGC Tense, tight and feisty derby as two Rhondda sides clashed both with promotion hopes. We would do a late league double over Tonyrefail to gain promotion as runners up, Leon Anstee with the all important goal. 6 Years Ago.. South Wales Alliance Two - St. Albans 0-1 Ynyshir Albions Carol Fry

Again another pivotal win of a title challenge. Hard battle, a tough and dull game looking to be points dropped until a cracking left footed Dale Hughes winner from outside the box in the final 10 minutes, 2nd goal for 3-3 setting up the grandstand finish that was completed with Joe Eason netting a late Ynyshir winner.

Overview of the Season Miles covered – 183 Goals For – 10 Goals Against - 5 Two superb trips run by Beaky’s tours to Aberaeron FC & Penrhyncoch FC (lost in R4)

Miles covered – 156 Goals For – 18 Goals Against - 6 Local derbies & a trip to Caersws the buns next face Baglan Dragons in the last four on the 19th March Miles covered – 338 Goals For – 72 Goals Against – 34 18 different scorers & 12 MOM’s (Ardal South West league)

Miles covered – 0 (All home fixtures) Goals For – 4 Goals Against – 1 Semi Final TBC

This weekends will see the buns play their final home fixture which is the 22nd game on the Oval this season across league & cup competitions. Regardless of what happens on the field the next few weeks if we cast our minds back less than 12 months ago there was an army of helpers just trying to get the playing surface and surrounding facilities to the standard to meet Tier 3 requirements. The buns have always had a loyal following the past 30 years however I think for anyone who’s come to watch the boys this season, we can confidently say we have the best following of any club in this division. With attendances regularly pushing 175+ spectators p/w we’ve not only seen the loyal fan base continue to turn up week in week out but there’s now a new group of fans of all ages, wanting to come down and support the boys on a match day. The old cliché of a 12th man and the difference it can make to the players is 100% true, from all the players, management and committee at the club we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that has supported us both on & off the field the season. Carol Fry

We’d like to think that whether its at the Oval, an away trip on Beaky tour’s or back at the club house after a match, it’s a club that we want everyone to feel apart of. There’s still a lot to play for and the boys are continuing to put the hard work in but seeing as it’s the last match day programme from us we wanted to give a special mention to our fans and sponsors.

Club News Sponsorships Renewed Whilst the players and management continue to focus on match day preparation, the buns committee are working tirelessly behind the scenes to continue to push the club forward off the field. We are delighted to announce that the following businesses have decided to renew their sponsorship deals with the club.

Carol Fry

Our design team are working hard to make sure that both new & existing boards are ready to be advertised at the Oval, it’s a message that we’ve shared numerous times but as a club we are truly grateful for this support. Without it not just now but in years gone by we simply would not be able to operate as a club and we’d like to think those dark days are over and the buns are now making what was a dream to so many become a reality.

We are yet again as a club overwhelmed by the generosity shown by our supporters, members of the local community, local businesses and Sport Wales who have kindly donated to our Crowdfunding campaign. We will be in touch shortly with people who selected one of the reward packages and please stay tuned to our social media pages as we’ll share progress of the work being undertaken to improve the facilities we are able to offer on match days.
