Are You An "Ulti-Mutt" Dog Lover? Pet-Friendly Spots in YoCo
By Katie Mahoney | Vice-President, Marketing & Communications
For 2021, its estimated that $109.6 billion will be spent on our pets in the U.S., according to market research and trend analysis by American Pet Products Association (APPA). In 2020, that number was $103 billion.
Researchers attribute this growing economic engine to the millennial generation (ages 25-40 years old currently), who are expected to spent more on their dog over the course of its lifetime, than they will spend on their own lifetime medical care, according to a TD Ameritrade survey.
With this increased love for their furry companions, many owners look to bring them along for any adventures they can. Most dining and drinking establishments (but not all – so always check!) with outdoor seating welcome well-behaved, leashed pets.
There are many factors for a business to consider about being a pet-friendly business, including health codes and insurance liabilities, but as outdoor dining experiences grow, so do the hopes of patrons that they can bring along their beloved pet.
Here are just 7 (out of hundreds!) of unique spots in YoCo where your furry companion is welcome to join you:
1. Rail Trail Café - 117 N Front Street, New Freedom, PA 17349 | nfrailtrailcafe.com
Pets are welcome on the patio in the front or back of the café, which is a favorite spot for many users of the Heritage Rail Trail. With a robust menu of small plates, breakfast items, soups, salads, wraps, smoothies, and gluten-free options, Rail Trail Café makes for a great break on a long walk on the trail.
2. Terra Farms - 2605 Buffalo Valley Road, Spring Grove, PA 17362 | terrafarmsandfield.com
