YoCo Bloom: Trail Towns Edition

Small Business Spotlight: Simply Local

By Sully Pinos | Director, Business Solutions & Innovation

The name of this shop says it all, “Simply Local.” Established in 2017 and located in the Trail Town Community of Glen Rock Borough in the historic Glen Rock Mill Inn, Simply Local prides itself as being a boutique artisan market filled with plenty of local gift options, as well as hand dipped ice cream and quick bites. At any point, you can find yourself sorting through handmade crafts, art pieces for your home, and locally made tasty treats.

Recently, twelve businesses representing all five Trail Towns received YoCo Bloom grants to aid them in making their business more trail-user friendly – from marketing, to bike racks, and more. Simply Local was one of the selected businesses to receive a grant to help with their expansion and commitment to supporting local businesses. With the move to the store front, Simply Local will expand their partnership with the Glen Rock Mill Inn to provide quick bites and will stock a variety of products from local and PA businesses such as Painted Alpaca (Spring Grove), Martin’s Chips (Thomasville), Jesse’s Simply Sweets (Glen Rock), New Freedom Roasting Company (New Freedom), Tulsi Fields Farm (Glen Rock), Beck’s Ice Cream (York), Lenka Bar (York), and many more!

The YoCo Bloom Grant will help my business continue to grow and support my local businesses and community.

“Small Businesses are the heartbeat our of economy and they’re filled with passion for the community where they’re located. Having an opportunity to support local means helping more businesses start and grow,” shared Karen Dietrich, owner of Simply Local.

The Trail Towns Program has helped many businesses in these communities to connect with one another, build support and provide them with resources to make their communities hubs for trail users, visitors and create experiences for families. “Since the start of the program, we have seen increased rail trail traffic and lots of store traffic over the holidays,” added Karen. “The YoCo Bloom Grant will help my business continue to grow and support my local businesses and community.”
