MOVE WITHOUT PAIN: AN INTRODUCTION TO SOMAYOGA Wendy Brom
SATURDAY 1:30 – 3:30 PM | JAN 21
When muscles become chronically contracted from postural habits, physical and emotional stress, injury and trauma, the body becomes imbalanced. Years of compensating for these imbalances can result in pain in the neck, back, shoulders, hips, knees, etc. Over time, this may lead to many structural and functional problems such as sciatica, scoliosis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, knee pain, and fatigue. In this workshop you will learn a simple series of safe, natural, and easy movements that, when done regularly, can bring more efficient, coordinated, and pain free physical functioning. You will begin to understand the ways in which your movement and movement habits affect your entire body. Muscles are released, relaxed, and balanced through the use of somatic movements which reeducates muscles and develops new movement patterns. PRICE: $40 ($35 for Annual PLUS Members) | SLP

The Science of Ayurveda
March 13th, 2017 - May 1st, 2017 Price: $700
The Science of Ayurveda
Originating from the Hindu Vedic tradition nearly 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda states that a balance of three elemental substances, the Doshas, equals health while imbalance equals disease. There are three Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. One Ayurvedic theory states that each human possesses a unique combination of these Doshas which define this person’s temperament and characteristics. Each person has a natural state, or natural combination of these three elements, and should seek balance by modulating their behavior or environment. In this module, you will explore Ayurvedic Science and take an in-depth look at the Doshas, work with diagnostic techniques and Ayurvedic practices for overall health and well-being.

“ Taking part in the 300Hour training has caused some radically positive shifts in my teaching, and my life. I’ve learned that yoga is a big, bold, patchwork quilt. Each teacher, each sutra, each pranayama, each pose, each chant, each meditation is a thread and if you’re looking to take your teaching to the next level, you must learn how they all weave together, and complement one another. This was my biggest take-away from the program: Betsy Weiner, Kevin Kortan, and Tara Cindy Sherman were incredible mentors, who shared generously the bounty of their knowledge and experience.”
