WEEKEND INTENSIVE LIVING IN EMPOWERMENT Betsy Weiner FRI - SUN | DEC 2 – DEC 4 The word sankalpa is often translated as intention but the word itself means: sa(n) the highest or greatest, that which is born from the soul, a rule that is followed above all others that arises from the soul or heart, and kalpa - the rule that is followed above all others. Your sankalpa is your intention to plant the seed of what you would like to see growing in your life: more freedom, more love, more joy, more focus and motivation, more clarity, more acceptance; it is limitless. And it is empowering. How do we go about finding our soul’s purpose? A lofty goal indeed, but don’t worry, it is attainable! As with all of our journeys, it all begins with the first step. This weekend workshop will use the modalities of asana (postures), pranayama (focused breath work), mantra, and meditation, along with detailed writing exercises, to begin to uncover the clues to your soul’s purpose and your deepest driving desire. You will learn techniques to concentrate your energy, your prana, and contain it to put the fuel behind making this sankalpa manifest. Look at what is standing in your way and learn how to overcome these obstacles.
We all carry tension in our shoulders. In fact, the shoulders, neck and upper back can be a tough area to reach in your yoga practice. Tight shoulders can make back bends and inversions quite a challenge. We will release the tension and stress of daily life through gentle movements. Once we have begun to relax this area, we are ready to learn how to effectively build strength without building tension. Leave with a better understanding of your shoulders and how to relax and release the tension that loves to build in this area. PRICE: $40 ($35 for Annual Plus Members) | SLP

KUNDALINI YOGA + OCEAN OF ONENESS
EMOTIONAL WISDOM
SATURDAY 1:30 – 3:30 PM | DEC 10
Coleen Elwood
When we are connected to all of life, we feel vibrant, alive, creative, intuitive, and deeply rooted + connected. We can see how the Universe has made us uniquely US. And we see no need to compare, or strive, or become something we are not, because we see that we are already perfect as we are. This idea of connecting to Oneness is at the core of many spiritual traditions. We’ll explore this concept as it relates to Kundalini Yoga, through specific practices that tap us into that force. We’ll practice physical asana, breath work, meditation, and more to allow this FEELING of oneness to land in the body, not just to remain a philosophical concept. Come to connect. Come to grow. Come to realize you are perfect.
Nicole Nardone

JIM BENNETT
A Tantric Vinyasa Weekend November 18 – 20, 2016 | MPLS
Jim began his studies in Yoga, Tantra and Ayurveda in 1997. He then met Paul Weitz, a teacher at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago. Jim then completed Moksha’s teacher training with Daren Friesen, traveled to Ukraine for a twomonth intensive training with master teacher Andrey Lappa and assisted Gabriel Halpern in his therapeutic classes at The Yoga Circle. In 2002, Jim met his teacher, Rod Stryker. Rod was in Chicago to conduct a 21-day intensive training. Rod’s teaching included everything Jim feels Yoga to be: asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, kriya, mantra, meditation and elements of Ayurveda. A Tantric Vinyasa class is more of a sacred ritual that helps us to identify with the divine light that rests within all of us! The word vinyasa stems from the Sanskrit word nyasa, which means “to place”. The prefix vi, in this case, means “in a special way”. Thus vinyasa would mean “to place something in a special way”. The word tantra translates “to weave” and refers to weaving together the material and spiritual worlds. A tantric vinyasa class is a practice consisting of postures, movements, gestures, breathwork and meditation weaved together in a special way to reach a specific desired result. In this workshop we will first decide what our desired result will be and then practice in an intelligent way to get there. Today most of the deeper practices in The Hatha Yoga Pradipika have been forgotten. In this workshop, we will begin with a discussion on some of the main teachings and then move into a physical practice applying what we have learned. We will also focus on the three main bandhas and three main mudras within a physical practice and discuss the appropriate time and place to practice them and what is the desired result of each. Tantra: Weaving Together the Material and Spiritual Worlds | FRIDAY, NOV 18 | 6 – 9 pm Vinyasa from a Tantric Perspective | SATURDAY, NOV 19 | 9:30 am – 12:00 pm Teachings From the Ancient Texts: Hatha Yoga Pradipika | SATURDAY, NOV 19 | 1:30 – 4 pm Advanced Practice: Bandha and Mudra | SUNDAY, NOV 20 | 9:30 am – 12 pm

History & Philosophy of Yoga Yoga is evolving for modern times, but the foundation and the fundamentals of this philosophical system has roots that run deep. In this module you will explore the origins of yoga - the Vedas and Upanishads. You will discuss the Kleshas and the Koshas and why yoga brings us into a state of greater health. With the guidance of your teachers you will study classic yogic texts. Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad-Gita and apply their messages to modern life. You will benefit from the teachings of different lineages and learn tools for integrating their practices for the desired outcome.
Theory & Energetics of Sequencing Sequencing is an art as well as a science. Creating a class that will offer the greatest therapeutic value for your student will help them to develop a deep and committed practice for their own well-being. In this module you will learn to assess the energy of the student, their condition and the seasons. You will work with the 5 Prana Vayus and the concepts of Langhana, Brahmana, and Samana to create the most balanced practice. These principles will be carried throughout the subsequent modules and applied in specificity. Special consideration will be given to sequencing for beginners and sequencing for different stages of life.
Anatomy & Yoga for the Physical Body TUITION: $3,800 Full Program (Payment plans available)
How well do you know the body? When you encounter students with injuries or limitations, how confident do you feel about teaching them safely? In this module, you’ll gain deeper insight into your students’ (and your own) anatomical uniqueness.

You’ll also build your creative problem solving, intuition and listening skills through guided practicum.

Recovery is more than just abstinence. Recovery is a lifelong process of healing, transformation, and growth. Regardless of how addiction manifested in our lives, we were trapped in a cycle of spiritual disconnection, mental obsession, and physical compulsion. We emerged from active addiction beaten, wounded, and unwell, only to discover that the problem wasn’t outside; it is inside ourselves. 12 Step recovery programs provide a solid structure for psychological and spiritual healing, but they offer little guidance when it comes to physical healing and how to reunify the body with the mind and spirit. That is why yoga and the 12 Steps work so well together. In this training: + Y ou will learn to develop and teach a Recovery Yoga class + E xplore how yoga offers students the awareness and the discipline that make it possible to rediscover and reconnect with all aspects of the self + T his weekend is open to anyone who has completed a 200hr teacher training FRIDAY 6:00 – 9:00 PM | NOV 4 SATURDAY 11:00 – 5:00 PM | NOV 5 SUNDAY 11:00 – 5:00 PM | NOV 6 PRICE: $345 | MPLS pictured: Suzula Bidon
