SACRED MOON EMERGENCE
E
A Women's Festival - August 2017
BY MARILYN PUFF
verything is SACRED or comes from the Sacred. The SACRED MOON is every life-giver, our moon-time bleeding either cycling back into the earth or being a nest for creation. The SACRED MOON EMERGENCE is the divine feminine rising, is the energy of the times. ``The repression of the Feminine (in all of us) has led to a planet on the edge of collapse. The Re-emergence is going to be a dance to behold.``- Clare Dakin. Although the yin and the yang, the divine feminine (the in-breath) and the divine masculine (the out-breath) cannot be separated, we can all have more understanding, acceptance and expression of the wisdom of the Divine Feminine within. The Sacred Moon Emergence Festival was a vision I felt and saw from being at a festival on the Moors in England. It was the power of gathering together with intention on the Land. It was being immersed in a sisterhood with unconditional acceptance. It was the joyous and authentic expression in everyone's eyes, that I knew would carry the energies of their awakening home with them to infuse their circles. All this and more inspired me to bring my vision back to this land. The conversations between men and women are crucial for understanding and shifting our world. It is also vital for the women to gather at the river: to explore the land and our inner landscapes, to express our joyous hearts, hands and bodies, to awaken, heal and transform into more of the beauty, power and wisdom that we carry, these soul pieces that might have been hidden or depressed. Join us for this gathering of Ceremony, Circles and Celebration of Women inspiring Women. It's three days of rediscovering and revitalizing our authentic beings, of growing our Sisterhood on the Sacred Land near Boston Bar BC. Visit us on Facebook or at www.SacredMoonEmergence.ca for more info or to get your ticket. Marilyn Puff lives in Kamloops and is founder of this first annual Festival. Happily married to Bob, she loves being a mother, stepmother, grandmother, auntie and elder in training. Marilyn has been in the field of creative inner transformation and ceremony for over 30 years.

Out Comes the Sun – Off comes the hair
W
BY TRINA GOEBEL
ith the sunshine comes the appeal to wear less clothing and the need to rid our bodies of hair that is visible. Whether it is on our face, legs, underarms or bikini area it is the goal to achieve the look of smooth, clean, hairless skin. People of all categories seek methods of hair removal through methods of depilation or epilation, depending on cost and time.
Methods of Depilation are trimming, shaving or the use of chemical depilatories, which chemically dissolves the hair. ( ie, Nair). These methods can last several hours to several days, but it only removes part of the hair above the skin.
Methods of Epilation is removal of hair from below the skin. This can be achieved through tweezing, waxing, sugaring, electrolysis, laser, threading, and intense pulsed light and epilation devices. These methods can last several days to several weeks.
If you decide to seek a professional service for any of the methods listed under epilation it is highly recommended to make sure that the procedure is performed under the highest standards of sanitation. Do your research:
Is the technician wearing gloves? Is the treatment table clean and has fresh linen or paper provided? Are all tools being used sanitized? Are they cleansing the treatment area on your skin?
For waxing and sugaring: is the pot clean and are they using a new disposable applicator each time they apply the product? (Say no to double dipping). The wax is not hot enough to kill all bacteria, germs, and communicable disease. Double dipping puts other client’s dead skin, loose hairs and possible blood and secretions back into the wax!
The more questions you ask and the more knowledge you have will benefit your hair free, care free body. Trina M. Goebel has been a certified esthetician with a C.D.E.S.C.O International Diploma for 24 years, she has experience as a Practitioner, Business owner, Product Educator, and College Instructor. She is presently the Spa manager for Le7ke Spa at the Quaaout Lodge situated on the little Shuswap lake in Chase B.C. www.quaaoutlodge.com Summer 2017 | www.InteriorWellness.com 5
M E D I AT I O N BY DANIEL MANDELBAUM
ROLL OF THE MEDIATOR
Unlike lawyers, a mediator is allowed to be with the 2 parties in the same room. A mediator is a neutral third party that helps the communication process. They also help to negotiate a fair agreement between the parties involved until a separation agreement is reached.
MEDIATION PROCESS
We start with pre-mediation to determine if the parties are ready to mediate. Not everyone can mediate! After premediation, we begin mediation, it takes between 6 to 10 sessions of about 90 minutes each. After the Memorandum of Understanding is reached, A lawyer prepares the separation agreement, a draft is presented and a final agreement is reached. All this process is non-confrontational.
FINAL SEPARATION AGREEMENT INCLUDES
Assets and debts, Bank accounts, Credit cards, Credit lines and loans, Spousal support, Child support, Gifts before marriage, Inheritance, Pensions and Parenting plan.
MEMORANDUM FOR AN EVENTUAL SEPARATION AGREEMENT
A separation agreement ready to sign is part of the service of a mediator. Many mature and ‘out of the box’ couples find out that having a separation agreement in case of a divorce, improves the relationship. After money issues are taken care of then the couple can recoup friendship again.
PARTIAL MEDIATION
A conflict or challenge that may finish in divorce if not treated on time, can be discussed. With a mediator, you can negotiate in order to keep the relationship and have better communication while regaining your friendship and pleasure! Why I am unique ? why I have 90 % success without fighting ?
Because of my mediation model. ✓ Nobody has the model I created. ✓ Both of you in the same room at the same time ✓ Agenda is created to discuss point by point ✓ My sessions are not by time, can take 2 hours if needed. ✓ Family Lawyer (if necessary) can talk to both at the same time, to clarify questions and to provide answers. ✓ Pre-mediation to asses before if your situation qualifies for mediation or for lawyers. ✓ YOU are in charge of your destiny, not a judge. ✓ Memorandum of understanding is review before contract. Daniel Mandelbaum is a Certified Mediator from Justice Institute of British Columbia. He obtains successful, mutually beneficial results for countless families and partners. Daniel works with a team of collaborative lawyers that share the belief that mediation is the most effective means of resolving conflict. www.familymediationcenter.ca 250-863-6399 6 www.InteriorWellness.com | Summer 2017
PERFECT TIME
P
BY KRIS RAE
eople obsess about time. It is a factor in most everything around them (or they make it so). Time concepts of: late, early, on-time, wait, rush, deadline etc. Our modern world perception of time can add an incredible amount of stress to our lives. What if your focus on time was calmer, gentler and more forgiving? What if you trained yourself to have “perfect time” and “almost perfect time”? Instead of striving to be early, on-time, or not being late, what if you trusted the time would be right? What if you told yourself time is what you make of it and changed how you saw time? Really if you were a few minutes behind, is that not near perfect? You could have been 2 days behind! Setting an intention that the day will be orchestrated in perfect time reduces stress and anxiety, builds your intuition and increases your awareness of how well you can flow through your life.
Shifting to perfect/near perfect time:
• Set the intention to focus on perfect time. • Notice the interactions with time and specifically how often thing line up perfectly. • Use the idea of “almost perfect” when time doesn’t line up as wanted. • Look for silver linings that may indicate the “almost perfect” may have been “perfect” after all. • Remind yourself, when time would appear to not be aligning, to stay calm and that the goal is perfect/almost perfect time.
What will happen is more and more perfect time! Situations lining up better than you could have expected. What is focussed on will grow and by focussing on a gentler version of time, time will begin to flow in your favour. Imagine this evolving to never needing to keep time so that you are instinctively arriving everywhere exactly when needed. Imagine! Kris Rae teaches meditation and relaxation techniques for all ages in classes in Kamloops and she offers self-healing tools and guided meditations for home use. www.krisraemindandbody.com Summer 2017 | www.InteriorWellness.com 7

Summer is Pitta Season ...It’s Hot!
BY TANYA THOMPSON
yurveda identifies summer as Pitta season. The days
are long and warm and people come out into the sun
and get busy with projects waiting to be done. Pitta
governs the digestive fires in our body that helps to metabolize and transform food into nutrients and thoughts and emotion
into action. I enjoy summer because I can eat raw foods and enjoy ice cream.
The main qualities of pitta are: oily, sharp, hot, light, fleshy-
smelling, spreading, and liquid. People with a pitta predominant constitution will experience these qualities in themselves generously for both better and worse.
So how do we see these qualities reflected in the environment and within the individual?
People who are pitta predominant have sharp minds and strong
drives, they will work and play hard sometimes risking over extension and creating physical symptoms like inflammation, acid reflux, bleeding, and burn out. After a full day of activity in
the sun you’ll find yourself soaked in sweat; time for cool waters
to cleanse and refresh. In summer, plants reach their peak,
spreading their roots and foliage. Watch out for plants like poison ivy that give a rash that is red, itchy, oozes and can spread. Sun hats and glasses shield us from the sharpness of the sun and reduces the risk of sun stroke.
Anger is the emotion most associated with Pitta and when we’re
stuck in traffic on a hot day, we often see outbursts of road rage. Spicy food, coffee or missing a meal aggravates pitta. Consider using cilantro and cucumber.
Medicines, in Ayurveda, are substances which decrease the
excess dosha by providing the opposite quality to it. For example, if excess mental wrestling has resulted in “burn out”, a comfortable, soft couch and a cool mind can be medicine. Tanya Thompson has been a student of Vedic Traditions since 1990. She provides workshops in Ayurveda and Jyotiṣh (Vedic Astrology) readings. www.starsaboveearthbelow.com 250-320-9355 ttccp249@yahoo.ca.

Sustainable Living
ummer brings warm temperatures, sunny skies, and
the perfect opportunity to adopt sustainable
practices. Below are a few tips to get you on your way
to a sustainable summer.
IN THE KITCHEN
To help save water, wash your produce in a bucket, and use
the remaining water in your garden or for your houseplants. Keep a jug of tap water in the fridge so it’s cold for when you
need it instead of running the tap to cool the water. Fill up on
locally grown organic fruits and vegetables whenever
possible. You’ll help reduce the overall carbon footprint while benefitting from delicious, healthy produce. These practices
will benefit both your health and the environment and reduce
water usage, which is something you can feel good about.
IN THE GARDEN
Put your kitchen scraps in a compost, and use that compost in your garden. Not only will this reduce the amount of waste
you send to the landfill, it will contribute to a healthier
garden!
Try xeriscaping! Xeriscaped gardens use less water and also
require less weeding, fertilizing, pruning, mowing, and
pesticides than the typical garden or lawn. Xeriscaping is a great alternative if you want to create a low maintenance
sanctuary right in your backyard. Visit Kamloops.ca/ipm to
learn more.
IN THE COMMUNITY
Purchase products with less packaging. Always remember
your reusable shopping bags and incorporate reusable
containers into lunch kits for the whole family. Additionally,
ride your bike to work - it’s a great way to reduces your carbon footprint and kick-start your day.
The ECOSmart team works with the City of Kamloops to promote sustainability in the city. This year, four university students will work together to provide residents with tips and tools that contribute to waste reduction, energy and water conservation, and more! Keep an eye out for them at the Farmers’ Market, Canada Day, and other summer events. Visit www.kamloops.ca/ecosmart to learn more. Are You Meeting Your Needs? BY DEANNA DEACON
Every single experience you have is a reflection of what needs are, or are not, being met. When you reach for that 3rd glass of wine, you are satisfying a need. Perhaps to numb out a pain, to release responsibility or a desire to let the good times roll with good friends and a comfortable environment. When you lash out at your partner or your kids, it's not because you hate them and are a terrible person. It's due to a need not being met. Maybe you haven't eaten in 5 hours and your blood sugar is low, or maybe a co-worker insulted you and never apologized, or perhaps you feel unseen and neglected and as though your opinions don't matter. All of these needs could cause anyone to lash out if they are not aware. Stop beating yourself up for your natural reactions and start listening. By listening you can begin to respond rather than react. At every given moment your body and subconscious are working diligently to bring your being back to homeostasis, a state of balance. Our reactions and actions are ALWAYS a reflection of what is going on internally. So instead of feeling frustrated with yourself, focus instead on awareness. Awareness of your needs. Awareness of your feelings. Awareness of your natural ebb and flow of emotions. The next time you feel frustrated by your outward display of rage or your internal negative self talk, take a moment to pause, reflect on the situation and ask yourself; "What need am I trying to meet? What need is not being met? What am I not doing for myself? In doing so you will enter an empowered state of consciousness, igniting a conversation between your body, mind and soul. Allow your body to be your greatest teacher instead of your most loathed enemy. Deanna Deacon is a Holistic Health Coach and Founder of Soulful Sisterhood. Deanna’s clients live an empowered and inspired lifestyle courtesy of their body’s natural wisdom and soulful accountability. www.vitalitypure.com www.soulfulsisterhood.com. CHANGE YOUR SPACE, CHANGE YOUR LIFE Feng Shui Living
I
BY JENNIFER LARSEN
s your home giving you energy or draining it? Do you feel much more alert, vibrant, and connected when your home is clean and organized? Do you spend too much time and attention on the details that you don’t like about your living space? Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Shway) is a concept that considers our relationship with the spaces we inhabit. The simple act of rearranging our living and working environments, clearing out clutter, and adding a few simple enhancements, can affect many areas of our lives. Feng Shui concepts address the mind, the body, the environment, and our relationship to them. If you are feeling depleted in the wealth and abundance aspects of your life, for example, look to the back left corner of your home or business (from the front door) and see what is living there. Are there a bunch of unpacked boxes? Dust bunnies? Dead plants? Try clearing out that area, and maybe add a fountain, a light, a plant or mirror, and see how it feels. You can even write down your intentions and what you would like to manifest in life, and place it in this section. Simple Feng Shui practices can influence our health, careers, relationships, families, personal power and more. As human beings, we are experiencing and influencing energy all the time—sometimes we have an abundance of it, others we feel depleted. Energy is meant to meander easily through our homes and our lives. If you are experiencing too many challenges or stagnation, some simple Feng Shui awareness and remedies could be enough to create major and lasting change. Jennifer Larsen is a certified Feng Shui Consultant, through Earth Home School in LA, She has a passion for turning challenging spaces into supportive environments. Connect with her at www.vitalpoint.ca. Learn from Jennifer in person at Mountain Spirit Festival! June 24-25 at Sun Peaks Resort www.InteriorWellness.com

T
BOOST YOUR ENERGY IN 3 STEPS
BY CATHY LIDSTER
he human body contains enormous quantities of potential energy. The average adult has 9000kcal of energy stored in each kg of fat. That’s enough energy to hike half-way across the continent burning 100kcal/hour! You might be wondering, if I have so much potential energy why do I feel so tired? Most of us think we need to produce more energy by eating more food when we are tired. But what if we are tired because we are holding back our energy instead of releasing it?
Since energy is everything, here are three tips to help you boost your everything.
1 CATCH SOME RAYS
When light (infrared sun, laser, or LED) strikes the water around
your cell membranes, it polarizes and restructures it. As the water in the cells becomes more alkaline, the cell membrane serves as a generator. That’s why sunlight energizes you. This is also part of the basis for light therapies.
2 MOVE
Your muscles release energy when they work. Much research is being done on innovative ways to harvest human power to run fitness gyms and dance clubs and even to run our own electronic gadgets. People who exercise are releasing constrained power and this makes them feel more energized.
3 EAT LIGHTER AND LESS
In the summer nature provides us with lighter, more nutrient dense foods. It is a good time to give your liver a break and fast a little too. Unless you are diabetic, it doesn’t hurt to skip a meal or eat only fruits and vegetables for a day.
To keep it simple, and conserve your time, why not do all three steps at once? Forego the midmorning and late afternoon snacks and instead, take a walk around the block in the sunlight. You will literally charge your own battery and dazzle the world around you with the sparkle of your energy. Cathy Lidster, Health Educator/Nutrition/Allergy Practitioner can be reached at Centennial Building Wellness Centre, 250-819-9041, or cathylidster@gmail.com www.cathylidster.com

Live Life Large
ust for a moment, envision a life bigger than you have ever lived before. Imagine what this life looks like - how it feels. Breathe this in! Who are you now? Turn this dream into reality. Use the effective tools below and make it all happen. 1. You and Your Body’s Intuitive Knowing – whether you realize it or not, you are always connected to Source. In any given moment, your Being and your body know what actions promote your highest good. Access your Inner Wisdom to tap into information. One way is muscle response testing. Whatever form you use, state your question to get a “Yes” or “No” answer. 2. Your Emotions – your state of being can be either life-enhancing or less-than-life-enhancing, depending on how you feel about yourself or your circumstances. To shift, refer to Feelings Inventory to access a list of feelings. Use tool 1 to discover the ideal words for you at any given time. Bring yourself to a positive state of being by breathing in each relevant word.
3. Your Intentions – When you set the intention to do something in particular, you invite the Universe to participate with you. Denise Morier’s The Power of Divine Healing Statements© divinely aligns and empowers you to experience life from an expanded perspective. For a selection of Statements, see sample Statements. Breathe in after each selection. 4. Your Support – You are not alone. Ask - there are many beings, physical and energetic, who actively support you in living your dreams. Remember, ask and thou shalt receive! You are invited to be 100% ready, willing and able to receive. Breathe this in. As you apply the tools, trust them and trust yourself. You deserve to Live Life Large – make it happen! Celebrate, express gratitude and share your success. Join Sue Paulson, JOYce McLean and Denise Morier, Spiritual Intuitives from Alberta for 12 transformational events, 6 BC locations, in September culminating in a special 2 day event LiveLifeLarge.events. 5 WAYS
TO FEED YOUR CREATIVE NATURE
B
BY KATRINA ARIEL
eing creative is something we do naturally as human beings. Even if you don’t think of yourself as creative, our minds are constantly inventing new ideas and dreaming new dreams. Here are five ideas to get your creative juices flowing: 1) Think of the things that make you happy. Make a list. Pick one thing. Pursue it with childlike wonder. 2) The next time you do yoga, go for a run, dance in your kitchen, or otherwise express your body’s physical nature, remember this is a creative act. Yay!

think you have any “talent” in that arena. For example, if you love to sing, do it more often. Talented singers build their skills with years of training. Whatever it is you want to do, practice and have fun with it!
4) Give yourself permission to make mistakes. Often, the fear of messing up stops us before we even begin. Remember, successful people are usually the ones who made the most mistakes, but never gave up. 5) If you’re inspired to write, go for it! If you write one page per day, at the end of the year you’ll have a book. Even a sentence counts (this goes for any endeavor: a few minutes on a yoga mat counts, too). And remember, first drafts aren’t supposed to be perfect—they’re often awful—but you can’t revise a blank page. You have to start somewhere.
Feed your creative nature however is best for you. Even if it’s a little scary, or someone once told you you’re not good at singing (or dancing, or cooking, or whatever), do it your own way. Creativity is at the essence of the human experience. PADMA MEDITATION
N
BY PADMA
amaste! I live in the Himalayan mountains, and over the last thirty years, I’ve learned from my guru and through my own daily meditation that we are, each one of us, pure and free and forever blessed. For years I’ve practiced breath exercises and gentle hatha yoga, eaten a pure vegetarian diet, and every single day, taken the time to meditate. I’ve found that the single most powerful technique you can do, is the very simple act of sitting down and closing your eyes each day. Meditation is a practice of freedom and truth; in Padma Meditation you don’t need to join any religion. All you do is sit down and close your eyes and see for yourself that you exist- present and real. With your eyes closed, you know you exist. When you watch where your attention naturally goes, you’ll see it goes to any thought in your mind. You can think

about your body, or think about other people, or think about your thinking. You can spend your whole time in meditation just thinking! But you might also start to inquire, who is thinking? This direction of inquiry will take you deeper into an awareness of truth. You’ll see that behind all of this busy, changing mind, there is a space of presence that is unchanging. No matter what thinking goes on, this space remains untouched and ever-free. This formless space you see with your eyes closed, is the unchanging ‘you’. For a few minutes in meditation, knowing this still and thought-free space, you are resting in the unchanging presence of who you are. Take one moment right now and close your eyes. Know that this real you is pure, free and forever blessed. Practice this daily for 7 minutes and see how happiness comes! Padma hosts four television series, and is certified by the International Meditation Institute of India. Padma will host a workshop at Hollyhock in September, and offers an online meditation course. padma@padmayoga.ca www.padmameditation.com www.padmayogatv.com

BY JANICE OTREMBA here are an endless number of internet pages touting the habits and psychology of success. But it really comes down to whether or not you're doing things that make you happy. The simplicity of this idea gets lost in our endless quest to forge ahead and achieve. The next promotion or raise will be the one that finally gets you to there - wherever “there” is. But, will that promotion really make you happy? If you’re unsure then it’s time to revisit your values and ask yourself if your life aligns with those values. Being aligned with your values generates an inner drive, allowing you to reach higher levels of success. Being unsure about what makes you happy or feeling uncomfortable with where you could mean you’re stuck in a fixed mindset. A fixed mindset comes from getting

caught up in social constraints and stereotypes and end up focusing on what something is “supposed” to look like. This mindset can be paralyzing, especially if a person comes to define their identity and worth based on outcomes and constant comparisons with others. When your definition of success is based on these comparisons you are unable to be true to yourself. Conversely, a growth mindset often brings success through continual learning and improvement. The innate curiosity of this mindset drives a person to learn, and to learn from a process. Want to know if you’re stuck? How willing are you to change? If you’re unwilling to change inconsequential stuff then you’re probably not willing to take a risk to change the important stuff. You can move towards a growth mindset by conditioning yourself to believe you’re capable of change. Taking time to truly understand what drives you and creates happiness will aid in prioritizing your time to focus on goal-related activities--leading to success.
