Hatha Flow synchronizes movement and breath to produce a flow of postures that lead naturally from one to the next. Expect to move continuously through about a third of the class. Students should understand that the classroom is not cooled (73-78 degrees) and that the physical practice can naturally build heat in the body. Familiarity with the basics of Hatha yoga is required. Vinyasa uses vigorous flows of postures to warm the body, focus the mind, increase flexibility and build strength and stamina. Classes are taught in a warm room (78-84 degrees), and students should expect to move continuously throughout the majority of the class. Familiarity with Hatha and the basics of Hatha Flow is required. Candlelight Flow is a sweet practice, using flowing asanas in a candlelit room. Emphasis is placed on internalizing the practice–students should have the foundation of flow-based yoga to fully enjoy this meditative flow practice. Ashtanga is a challenging lineage of Hatha Yoga focused on building strength and endurance leading to a naturally relaxed mental state. In a warm room (78-84 degrees), a dynamic sequence of postures–the Primary Series–combines focus with continuous movement. Familiarity with Hatha and the basics of Hatha Flow is suggested. +Fundamentals of Ashtanga incorporates about half of the Primary Series postures, allowing for a comfortable introduction to Ashtanga or an opportunity for regular Ashtanga students to focus on details. Familiarity with basic yoga postures highly suggested. Ashtanga Mysore is an individually paced class taught in a group setting where students can receive one-on-one assistance from the teacher. This is Ashtanga as it is classically taught, allowing students to advance at their own pace and with guidance. Basic familiarity with the Primary Series is suggested.
Relaxation Yoga Rejuvenation Recovery Rest
Restorative Yoga offers postures supported by the floor and various props for an extended period of time. Alternately stimulating and relaxing the body encourages balance, deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Appropriate for all abilities. Deep Relaxation, sometimes referred to as Yoga Nidra, is a guided meditation class done primarily while resting on the back to clear the mind and create a relaxed yet energized feeling in the body. Appropriate for all abilities.

Each year OTM issues a global challenge to anyone who is interested enough in humanitarian issues and service to raise $20K via donations from his or her local community. This isn’t just about writing a check–the funds must be raised via community activism. We’ve raised over $2M for service in Cambodia, Uganda and South Africa. In return for raising funds, these yogis get to come with us and see their money being spent. Our 2011 Global Seva Challenge is Haiti where our focus will be clean water, organic farming and permanent shelters. We picked Haiti because it is still in crisis even though the world’s attention has moved on. We work locally and are free of governmental restrictions so we know the aid money goes to the proper agencies and gets used appropriately.

New realms of exploration will include learning and applying the traditional Sanskrit counting method, as well as progressing into Second Series adjusting and practice. We’re starting here with our own wonderful Yoga Yoga community and will soon roll out new programs and research studies across the country. Yogis understand that a healthy lifestyle is a lifelong practice. Yoga awakens an inner somatic wisdom to heal, guiding the body to a place of deeper wellness. In contrast, the current health-care system is built on quick fixes and is poorly equipped to educate, empower and support people in making long-term healthy lifestyle decisions.
The Yoga Care Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that passionately advocates for public health and open access of research. The foundation studies the most effective ways to support people in making mindful, sustainable health behavior changes.
