Preface In this chapter we will understand the reasons why we can not understand the specific mission of our messiah without understanding the appointed times, and we call the appointed times? Elul is the sixth month of the Biblical calendar (summer / late autumn), the month chosen for repentance, or teshuvah, spiritual preparation for the High Holidays (Yom Teruah and Yom Kippur). Each year, the "Season of Teshuvah" runs forty days from the first day of the Hebrew month of Elul to Yom Kippur. During this time, we do our best to repent, or "a turn back [shuv] to YHWH." In Jewish tradition, these 40 days are called Yemei Ratzon ( )יֵממ יי רצצון"Days of Grace", as it was during this time that the adon forgave the Jewish nation after the sin of the golden calf (Pirkei d'Reb Eliezer ).Some have compared these 40 days for the number of days it takes the human fetus forms inside the uterus. Teshuvah is a kind of death and rebirth: death of past life and the birth of a new life and a new creation (2 Cor 5:17. ). It is a wake-induced sleep sin, and manifests as the power of the Holy Spirit working in the heart of the believer who trusts in the salvation of YHWH through Yeshua. Therefore, the Ruach HaKodesh gives us the spiritual life that enables us to be "conformed" (ie, σύμμορφος "made together") with the prop Teddy Yeshua (ratzon) in this world (Rom.8: 28-30). Please YHWH is fully revealed in the character (χαρακτ ρ ) of His Son (Heb.1: 3). But why forty days? Do we really need much time to prepare to repent and make confession of our sins? Jewish tradition found that forty days came from the experience of Israel at Sinai (Yeshua also spent "40 days" in the desert). According to Rashi, Moses ascended Mount Sinai no less than three times for forty days and nights. The first ascent began on 6 Sivan, 50 days after the Exodus, when Moses received the Ten Commandments first and began to learn the details of the Torah (this corresponds to Shavuot). When he came down and saw the people worshiping the golden calf, however, he broke the tablets (Ex. 32:19). According to tradition, this happened on the 17th of Tammuz, a later date associated with calamity for Israel. The next day, Moses burned the golden calf and judged the transgressors. Then reascended 19 Tamuz and interceded on behalf of Israel for 40 days (until 29 Av), although down from the mountain without the guarantee. And YHWH called Moses the next day, the 1st of Elul, to climb for the third time to receive a new set of tablets. Forty days and nights were spent receiving the
revelation of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Moses finally descended on Tishri 10 - Yom Kippur - the second set of tablets in hand and the assurance of forgiveness of YHWH:

LISTENING TO THE SHOFAR Starting on Rosh Chodesh Elul and continuing until the day before Rosh Hashanah, is used to blow the shofar (ram 's horn) every day (except for the Shabbat). Note that at the end of each letter of this sentence is a Yod ()י, which has the value number 10, so the phrase itself may be combined with the number 40, we recalls the forty days of teshuvah leading to Yom Kippur. There are other references to the Elul word found in Scripture. For example, Deuteronomy 30: 6 states YHWH will circumcise "the heart and the heart of thy seed , " or in Hebrew, ׁ לבׁב- אשת לבֲחב- ואשת, which is said to be an acronym for the word Elul ()לולא.In fact, the gematria for the Hebrew word is the same for "understanding" ()ביינׁה, making allusion to Isaiah 6:10: "your heart to understand and turn and be healed."Yeshua circumcise the hearts of those who trust in Him (Col. 2:11).His favor rests upon those who really turn to YHWH. Trusting in his sacrifice on the cross satisfies righteous judgment of YHWH and it gives us the understanding to fulfill its deepest purpose. In Exodus 18: 7 we read about how Jethro and Moses met after the Exodus and asked by one welfare of others. In Hebrew, the phrase, "And every friend asked the welfare of others" It is ׁ ָב ל הרעהה לשל ם- ישאלל איי ויי ָב, can be reorganized into an acronym for the word Elul ))לולא.This reference has led to the habit of asking about the welfare of the family and friends during this time, and the practice of sending letters "Shanah Tovah" who You want a sweet and good New Year.

The teshuvah means "return" and Thus the period of Selichot is distinguished as a means of returning to YHWH;
Mikhah and Attributes of Mercy In reference to the name of the ()אאל, the prophet Micah does not refer to the One "who made the heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in it "(Ex. 20:11), or the One" which tells the number of stars and calls them by name "(Psalm 147: 4), etc., but rather to He who forgives and who delights to restore what is broken through its mercy and love. What is Teshuva? The theme of the high Jewish holidays is teshuvah (ּה "ת ב ּ ), a word often translated as
"repentance", although it is understood more precisely as backtracking (shuv) to YHWH. The root of this verb occurs nearly 1,000 times in the Hebrew Scriptures and first It occurs when YHWH told Adam he would "return to the earth" (Genesis 3:19).In spiritual terms, shuv can be considered both a shift away from evil and turn to good, although Jewish thought refers to turn to YHWH as the means by which We turn away from evil. This act of turning has the power to redirect the fate of a person. It affects the whole life of the soul. As Abraham Heschel, "he wrote. In ancient Greek translation of the Jewish Scriptures (ie, the Septuagint or LXX), shuv turns using the word strepho (στρέφω), which means to turn around, or to go back to YHWH. The Greek word sometimes "repentance" is translated is metanoia (μετάνοια), which literally means "change your thinking" (from 'μετα' (Later,) and 'νοεω' (think). often is the word used to translate the word Hebrew nacham ()נׁחֲחם, often associated with the emotion of repentance (in ancient King James Version of the Bible, sometimes confusingly nacham translated using the word "repent"). the New Testament follows the LXX using the verb Greek metanao (μετανοέω) to express Hebrew idea nacham (ie, the remorse or repentance), and uses the verb strepho (στρέφω) to express the idea of shuv (ie, turn to YHWH and eschewed evil).Metanao means expressing sorrow and remorse for the failure of our personal philosophy of how the world should work.
We surrender to the truth of YHWH, abandon the selfish demands of the ego, and "let YHWH is YHWH. "strepho, on the other hand, is a literal or metaphorical twist. When applied to YHWH, It means converting all their "heart, soul and strength" back to him. (For more information on this topic, see this page.)While it is important that "We regret our thinking" (μετανοέω) and embrace the authority of YHWH as the first principle of all our reasoning (λόγος), it is equally important that We exercise our wills turning to YHWH (στρέφω) through acts of repentance (eg, prayer, confession, away from practices sinful, offering tzedakah, and so on). According to Jewish tradition, true teshuva involves four basic steps:
FOUR STEPS OF TESHUVA: 1. Renounce sin (Prov. 28:13)."Sincere repentance is demonstrated when the same temptation to sin, under the same conditions, is resisted firmness "(Talmud Yoma 86b). Note that according to the opinions Jewish traditional, atonement is useless without repentance (Midrash Sifra). [Shuv / strepho] 2. Lamenting the breakdown in his relationship with YHWH and others (Psalm 51).[Nacham / metanoia] 3.
