DESIGN STUDIO 3
UCSI UNIVERSITY SABE ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
ARIA' 21
DIPLOMA GRADUATE YEARBOOK
ARIA
' AR ' represents architecture students , while ' IA ' stands for interior architecture students. The line between the two indicates architecture and interior architecture are of different fields; architects are adept at structural problem-solving and creative design for both exterior and interior building design. Interior architecture focuses on the functionality of a space. The circle frame symbolizes that although architecture and interior architecture are of different fields, we still work united together.
ARIA "ARIA"
is an exhibition of the graduating class of Diploma in
Architectural Studies and Interior Architecture at UCSI University. ARIA IS defined by vital connections between Architecture and Interior Architecture with three different sites. The site for the Architecture Program is in Tapak Urban Street Dining, located at Jalan Ampang. Being the first food truck park in Malaysia, Tapak introduced a brand new approach to urban dining to the local Malaysian community. The site of the Interior Architecture Program is The Slate at The Row. Its internal space is exposed with modern industrial design. The charm of this street is partly due to recent renovations and additions from the 90’s Asian Heritage. Another site of the Interior Architecture Program is Brick Studio. The ambience of the place is met with an urban styled design, hence emphasizing the usage of bricks as the raw material for the design.

FOREWORD
In the past year, we have seen the lives of every single person on Earth change drastically. No one could have ever predicted how we would be confined to our homes to live and work, and how the way we did everything outside our homes had to be rethought. I remember asking my students many years ago, what would the role of architects be if we lived in a world where you didn’t have to leave the home? I never expected that this would be a life that I myself would have to see. With many losing their lives, their jobs and facing unpredictable circumstances, the world became quiet as many worked from home. However, we saw many business shutdown as they could not adapt to the new way of life. One of the heavily hit industries by the pandemic was the dining industry. We saw how it went from complete shutdown, to delivery service to social distance eating. Realising that social distancing is not something that would be going away any time soon, designers had to rethink how eating could be done safely and how we could change the way we approach the whole process of dining. This challenge has been embraced by the students of this final design
Sukhjit Kaur Sidhu
studio and it gives me great pride to see the various unique and imaginative ideas of how we can socially distance ourselves while dining and incorporate digital solutions to consider the possibilities of how people can eat in the future. Many students also considered how the growing concerns of the food crisis can be resolved in an everyday dining experience. It is very important for students to understand the role they play in the world at large as they step out and one day change the lives of how people will live.

FOREWORD This is an exceptional year due to the Coronavirus outbreak which has forced us to work more creatively in new ways. This pandemic has required all of us to plan for a new world, with new methods of working and living. It has been challenging, but we managed to accomplish the design studio excellently. This yearbook and the online exhibition is a hugely positive response to the current challenge. It could not have been accomplished without the cooperation and input from the students. This yearbook showcases a wide range of inspiring and creative projects developed by our talented students. I believe that good interior designers and architects will positively affect everyday lives and well-beings as they are of vital importance in changing the world. Thank you for believing in me and giving me a chance to be the editor for our Diploma Graduate Yearbook 2021. As a quiet student in the class, I've never been the leader to lead 15 members at once before, this will definitely become one of my unforgettable memories in unilife. Thanks for everyone's cooperation to make this magazine come true even during the final presentation period. Two years of studies- almost half of the time we conducted online classes, but still, we managed to make it to graduation. GOODY FOODY MAHAL
Mahal means a palace and mansion that describes the abundance of dining options available in this design. It has spaces that provide professional cooking options for entrepreneurs and individuals to try various cuisines from the cloud kitchen or food trucks as well as experimenting with different herbs and spices with new recipes from around the world at the food studio. Visitors feel hygienically safe with the covid social distancing measures taken to design my dining spaces, for eg. portable barriers, framed timber gazebo.
13
There is a lack of food variety around the site and for foodies this is not good(y), therefore Goody Foody Mahal provides a solution for these hungry foodies of the society to get access to a variety of food options ranging from cooked to cooking and fresh produce on project. Entrepreneurship is brought forth for the individuals who have lost jobs due to the pandemic by renting shared cooking spaces fitted with professional equipment to sell culinary goods on site to visitors of the Goody Foody Palace

THE INTEGRATION SPACE The concept of the building is the connection of space within space. To promote the integration of spaces into an open space. The main theme is food tech. The open space area is integrated with many space into one area which gives people more user experience. For instance, people can watch the activity happen in the open bar & kitchen and also food truck dining area while dining.
25
The overall building is served by robotic waiters. The main parameters of the robotic waiters are delivering, introducing dishes, taking orders ,and making payment. Having robot waiters can draw immense attention from the general public. Many customers would offer money to have the experience of being served by robot waiters. Thank you being part of our diploma journey.
THANK YOU NOTE Greatest thanks to everyone who has been involved in our educational journey and growth throughout these few years in the architectural discipline. We all acknowledge and appreciate your guidance and mentoring to push us to learn about ourselves and develop into better designers. Sure, there were rather many breakdowns, sleepless nights, and burnouts in addition to the circumstance of the pandemic, but our tutors and peers have given us the strength, perseverance, and optimism to keep moving forward. We sincerely hope with all of our hearts that we have made you proud within this short and early stage we've spent together in our creative venture, and hope to keep doing so in the times to come.
