JEFF KOONS
SCULPTURE ARTIST
I try to create work that doesn't make viewers feel they're being spoken down to, so they feel open participation. Full name: Jeffrey L. Koons
THE PRE-NEW SERIES A series of domestic objects attached to light fixtures, resulting in strange new configurations. Works with these small appliances, some of which had already begun to enter the Architecture and Design Department of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Koons altered the integrity of the devices and turned them into artifacts (arte factum) by attaching them to fluorescent tubes.

Career: Contemporary artist
Born: 21 January 1955, in York, Pennsylvania Education: Art Institute of Chicago and University of Maryland
Doctor's Delight 27.9 x 17.1 x 14.6 cm
Art style: Using everyday objects in special installations that touched on consumerism and the human experience. Several existing styles—pop, conceptual, craft, appropriation— his own unique mode of expression. Working with seductive commercial materials (the high chromium stainless steel), shifts of scale, and an elaborate studio system involving many technicians, he turns banal objects into high art icons with more precision. Borrow widely from art-historical techniques and styles, he always loved Surrealism and Dada and Pop. Awards and achievements: Governor’s Awards: Arts “Distinguished Arts Award” “Golden Plate Award” State Department’s Medal of the Arts In 2019, “Rabbit” sold for a record-breaking $91.1 million- the most expensive living artist at the time

In 1986, SoHo gallery invited Jeff Koons to participate in a group show. There he presented Statuary series, consisting of sculptures made of shiny stainless steel that reflected archetypes and images of different historical characters. He created a life-size bust of Louis XIV, the symbol of absolute monarchy and of art made to order for a privileged few. The faceless inflatable rabbit—one of the earliest and best known of Koons’s creations, related to his work from the 1970s—is transformed here into a stainless-steel blow-up toy, always full of air and in perfect condition.
CELEBRATION SERIES Koons took photographs and collected images related to holidays and memorable events, looking for easily recognizable archetypes to illustrate every month of the year. His research soon grew more ambitious, leading to a total of 16 paintings and 20 sculptures, whose complexity required the artist to spend years working on and researching the processes and materials involved and their possible alloys or compositions. Consisting of a series of large-scale sculptures and paintings of balloon dogs, Valentine hearts, diamonds, and Easter eggs, each comes in five differently coloured "unique versions"

PERMANENT DISPLAY can be impressive, memorable and can be used to create moods or special environments within a space but become dated over time because they are difficult (or impossible) to change. TEMPORARY DISPLAY can be updated, more time and money can be spent on developing new area rather than on expensive permanent structures but lack of the impact generated and look repetitive and visually predictable.
Exceed 30% white pure wall and high ceiling
Sculptures should be well-lit in multiple angles by spotlights / skylight to maintain the luminance contrast light. 30° angle is optimal for track lighting & adjustable recessed lighting projection onto the artwork, free from disability glare and ceiling reflection A pleasant relaxing ambience is required - the displays can be studied at leisure.

INDUSTRIAL
Industrial style refers to an aesthetic trend in interior design that takes clues from old factories and industrial spaces. Use of neutral color scheme, reclaimed machinery, moody hues, raw woods and unfinished metals, and ultimately, statementmaking throwbacks with a slightly steampunk feel.
