FITNESS & LIFESTYLE SERVICES The certified fitness consultants with York Athletics & Recreation are highly qualified fitness professionals who are dedicated to improving your quality of life by helping you meet all of your fitness and health goals.

Personal Training Are you spending the time in the gym but not getting the results that you desire? Are you a new exerciser or returning to exercise and don’t know where to start? Do you want to make the best use of your limited available workout time? Campus Recreation staff are all certified personal trainers.

FITNESS ASSESSMENTS (1 hour) Student/Member $35, Non-Member $55 Our fitness assessment is a comprehensive approach that includes behavioral and physical components. Your trainer will first discuss your goals, goal planning, barriers to success and success indicators. This will help the personal trainer understand what you would like to accomplish and what would be the most appropriate plan for success. Next, the trainer will address your movement quality. The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a series of 7 different primitive movement patterns that assess quality of movement. Through this screen we will identify movement deficiencies that are related to stability, mobility and flexibility. Based upon your movement screen your personal trainer will prescribe corrective exercises that will allow you to improve your movement deficiencies. Based upon your goals and functional movement screen your personal trainer can design a personalized exercise program.

We offer: 1) “Fitness Starter” (Fitness Assessment & initial exercise program) 2) One-On-One Personal Training 3) Semi-Private Training *New Fitness Starter $55 Times and dates to be set up with Fitness Centre staff. This package consists of a total of two hours with a personal trainer over two separate visits. Your first visit begins with a comprehensive fitness assessment, following the protocols of our fitness assessment program. With your assessment results, your current fitness level and your individual fitness goals as our guideline, we create a personalized workout program for you. During your second visit, your trainer and you go through your workout program, ensuring your understanding and ability to perform all exercises. This is a great way to help eliminate the confusion surrounding how often you should exercise, how much you should do and most importantly, what you should be doing.

To register for any of our personal training and/or nutrition options, pay for your program at Client Services and complete a client intake form. Once completed a member from the fitness and lifestyles team will contact you for your first appointment.

One-on-One Personal Training $120 (3 sessions), $220 (6 sessions), $300 (9 sessions) Times and dates to be set up with Fitness Centre staff.

Note: Please notify us 24 hours prior to the appointment you wish to cancel, otherwise that appointment will be charged to your account. •• Any scheduled personal training and/or nutrition session may be cancelled without penalty by 24 hours notification directly to the trainer and/or Fitness Centre assistant. •• “Notice” includes confirmation from trainer and/or Fitness Centre assistant of the cancellation. •• Less than 24 hours notice of a session cancellation, without prior agreement by the trainer, will be considered as an “attended” session. •• All personal training sessions and assessment packages must be completed within 12 months of purchase. •• Refunds are not permitted after the start of any services without a medical note or prior approval by York Athletics & Recreation management.

Train towards your individual fitness goals at your own pace and on your own schedule. Your trainer will design your program for optimal results and guide you through your training sessions. Their personal attention and encouragement will assist you in setting realistic health and fitness goals while providing direction and professional advice to assist you in achieving your desired level of fitness. All personal training session packages include a preliminary comprehensive fitness assessment (one additional hour; available with first time purchases only). Semi Private Personal Training 3 sessions- $220.00 6 sessions- $330.00 9 sessions- $475.00 Do you think that having a personal fitness trainer is beyond your reach? Then let us show you how our Semi-Private Personal Training program makes fitness fun and affordable. Semi-Private training differs from small group training in that the groups are limited to 2-3 individuals so that each client is provided with an individualized program (not one size fits all of group training) that you perform while being closely monitored by one of our expert fitness coaches. This method is efficient, effective, and structured to meet your personal goals.
