Hi & welcome to our first issue back for 2017! I hope you had a great summer break and if you have made resolutions that they are going well. Mine are the same most years – be more organised, declutter and make healthier choices. I question how well I'm doing but am committed to not giving up this year! We welcomed a new family member “Louie” (another boy!) to our house on Christmas eve. He is the cutest little thing with the sharpest puppy teeth and no sense of where he is supposed to wee or poo. I forgot what it was like to have a puppy and I'm sure he thinks his name is “No Louie” It was a surprise for our boys and the look on their faces when we picked him up was priceless. The holidays have been busy and I've enjoyed a break from the routine of the school rush but I might do a little happy dance on the first day back. ROSANNA GOLF LINKS PRIMARY CELEBRATES 60 YEARS! On Friday 13 July 1956, four teachers opened their four classrooms to 122 students marking the opening of Rosanna Golf Links State School No. 4753. It was then 6 months later that Mr. Bloomfield, the then Minister for Education officially opened the school, along with “several notable persons of an official capacity”. To celebrate the school being in its 60th year and the Deaf Facility celebrating it's 21st birthday, Rosanna Golf Links Primary School, or more affectionately known as RGLPS, is hosting a special Anniversary School Fair.

A special Facebook group has been set up to reconnect old friends of the school and share their memories, stories and photos and can be joined by searching on Facebook for 'RGLPS Past Students, Staff and Friends'. With many exciting and interesting activities on offer at the big event, there will be something to entertain people of all ages. There will be a reunion hall, all age rides, stalls, food including cakes and coffee, side shows and many more fair activities. Of particular note there will be live music from past and present students. RGLPS has a proud musical history, starting with the recorder being introduced in 1958 and
The theme of the fair is 'Past, Present and Future' and looks to the past, to celebrate the school of today and to shape the school's future. In looking back to the past it was noted in early documentation that, “a strong feeling of friendliness and cooperation began to develop and the enjoyable friendly teacherchild relationship became the established tone of the school.” This observation made nearly six decades ago still rings true today. “We invite all members of our community to

the recorder band coming first in the Victorian State School's Bands Contest only five years later in 1963. This surely set the foundation for the incredible successes the award winning RGLPS music program has had in recent years at

State music festivals and competitions! The Deaf Facility is planning its own very special program of celebrations for its 21st birthday, which includes a Colour Run and a reunion hall where past, present and future students of our Deaf Facility can have a photo taken. It is an incredibly exciting time at RGLPS with the opening of the new main building only days ago. After years of planning, community consultation and construction the new building offers state of the art learning spaces and administration facilities. The future is certainly
looking very bright and is a long way from when the school property was called a “cow paddock where mushrooms grew” 60 years ago. Come along and celebrate these incredible milestones of 60 years and 21 years at the Rosanna Golf Links Primary School's 'Past, Present and Future' Anniversary Fair on Sunday 26 February, 10am until 4pm, with formal proceedings at 10:30am. The school can be entered from Interlaken Parade or Finlayson Street, Rosanna… or just listen for the music and laughter!
